Job Description

McDonald’s is a globally recognized fast-food restaurant chain renowned for its commitment to quality, service, cleanliness, and value. With thousands of locations worldwide, McDonald’s continuously seeks to provide customers with a fast, accurate, and friendly dining experience. As an established leader in the quick-service industry, McDonald’s places a strong emphasis on employee growth, development opportunities, and fostering a positive work environment. Whether you are just starting your career or aiming for advancement, McDonald’s offers a supportive workplace where you can thrive and achieve your professional goals.

This role is for the position of Shift Manager at a McDonald’s corporate-owned restaurant. A Shift Manager plays a vital leadership role within the restaurant, managing shifts every week to ensure customers receive outstanding service. This position requires someone who can provide strong leadership to both crew members and other managers during their assigned shift. The Shift Manager is responsible for upholding McDonald’s high standards of quality, service, and cleanliness, making sure every customer visit is memorable.

The Shift Manager duties are multifaceted, focusing on planning for shifts, monitoring the team’s performance, and making real-time decisions to meet the restaurant’s operational targets. This role involves overseeing food safety, internal communication, inventory management, daily maintenance, and cleanliness to keep the restaurant running smoothly and safely. Shift Managers also play a crucial role in managing staff schedules, providing coaching and training, and fostering a team environment that encourages fun and professional growth. They act as role models and ensure that safety and security protocols are strictly followed. Furthermore, they collaborate with incoming Shift Managers to ensure seamless shift transitions.

Prospective candidates are expected to have previous leadership experience, preferably in restaurants, retail, or hospitality settings. A successful Shift Manager is a positive team player with a flexible schedule and the adaptability to thrive in McDonald’s famously fast-paced environment. To be eligible for this management role, candidates must be at least 18 years old. McDonald’s offers competitive pay and a comprehensive benefits package, underscoring its commitment to employee well-being and career advancement.

In addition to a rewarding team leadership experience, Shift Managers have access to various benefits, including paid vacation upon service anniversary, education support through Archways to Opportunity — which offers programs for earning a high school diploma, college tuition assistance, and English as a Second Language classes. Medical, dental, and vision coverage options are also available for purchase, along with service awards and access to employee resource connections. McDonald’s fosters an inclusive workplace culture focused on helping you achieve your personal and professional aspirations, making this position an excellent fit for individuals seeking a meaningful and dynamic career path.
