Job Description

This job opportunity is with a restaurant owned and operated by an independent franchisee licensed to use McDonald's logos and food products. However, this franchisee functions as a separate company and employer distinct from McDonald's USA, which means the franchisee is solely responsible for all employment-related decisions such as hiring, firing, discipline, supervision, staffing, and employee scheduling. McDonald's USA does not influence or participate in any employment matters or decisions related to this restaurant. If hired for this role, you will be employed directly by the franchisee, ensuring a unique and localized work environment dedicated to delivering the high standards of the McDonald's brand.

The role offered is that of a Shift Manager within this independently owned McDonald's restaurant. The Shift Manager plays a critical leadership role by managing shifts to ensure customers receive fast, accurate, and friendly service during every visit. This position requires leadership of crew members and other managers, fostering an atmosphere of teamwork and high performance. Shift Managers oversee multiple components, including quality, service, cleanliness, safety, security, profitability, and communication. They are also responsible for operational success during their shifts by planning, monitoring performance, and enforcing McDonald's standards.

Shift Managers serve as the key on-shift leaders who not only uphold food safety and internal communication standards but also manage inventory, coordinate daily maintenance and cleanliness, and ensure exceptional customer service. They work closely with team members to provide coaching, training, and scheduling to maintain smooth restaurant operations. Previous leadership experience, ideally in restaurant, retail, or hospitality settings, is preferred. Candidates must be at least 18 years of age to qualify for the manager role in corporate-owned restaurants. This role suits individuals who thrive in a fast-paced environment, enjoy working with people, and possess a passion for delivering memorable customer experiences.

Beyond the responsibilities and daily duties, this position offers a career path with abundant growth opportunities, including college tuition assistance, valuable job training, and retirement benefits. The workplace culture emphasizes flexibility in scheduling, professional development, and the chance to pursue personal and educational goals while advancing within the company. Employees benefit from competitive pay and a comprehensive benefits package, supporting overall well-being and long-term success.

Shift Managers at this McDonald's franchise location gain access to an impressive array of benefits. These include 15 to 25 days of paid vacation, 10 paid holidays, and an 8-week sabbatical every ten years, enhancing work-life balance. Through the Archways to Opportunity program, employees have chances to complete a High School degree, receive college tuition assistance, and take English as a Second Language classes. In addition, medical, dental, and vision coverage are provided, alongside pre-tax flexible spending accounts, short- and long-term disability, life and accident insurance, and paid leaves of absence. Recognition programs like service awards, employee resource connections, adoption assistance, and a matching gifts program further enrich the employee experience.

This summary paints a detailed picture of working as a Shift Manager in a McDonald's restaurant owned by an independent franchisee. While it outlines many aspects of the role and the benefits, applicants should understand that the day-to-day duties encompass a range of tasks not exhaustively listed here. This position offers a promising career trajectory in the quick-service restaurant industry, combining leadership responsibilities with opportunities for personal and professional growth.
