Job Description
Wendy's is a globally recognized fast-food restaurant chain known for its fresh, high-quality food and exceptional customer service. With a strong commitment to innovation and community involvement, Wendy's continues to be a leader in the quick-service restaurant industry. Each location maintains a focus on delivering a welcoming atmosphere and consistent quality that customers expect when they visit. This particular opportunity is with one of Wendy's independently owned franchise locations, specifically located at 315 Washington Street, Memphis, TN 38103. Franchisees operate their own compensation, benefits, and career programs, which may differ from company-owned locations.
The role of Shift Manager at Wendy's represents the first level of management within the restaurant environment. This position plays a pivotal role in ensuring the success and smooth operation of the restaurant during each shift. The Shift Manager is responsible for overseeing opening and closing duties, which include but are not limited to ensuring the restaurant is prepared for business at the start of the day and properly secured at closing time. Moreover, this role supports the execution of daily operations with a strong emphasis on operational effectiveness and maintaining the high-quality standards associated with the Wendy's brand.
Shift Managers are directly involved in supervising crew members and team trainers, helping to reinforce company policies such as food safety procedures and customer service excellence. They also manage cash register procedures including setup and verification, ensuring all monetary transactions are accurate and compliant. The role demands an ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining composure and professionalism.
Another critical aspect of this position is the collaboration and communication with the broader restaurant management team. Shift Managers are expected to contribute to workforce development through coaching, training, and conducting team meetings aimed at boosting crew member retention and morale. They are also tasked with ensuring the restaurant meets production and service standards, creating a safe, efficient, and professional environment for both customers and employees.
In addition to operational responsibilities, Shift Managers may be called upon to act as the Operations Leader when needed, stepping into broader supervisory roles. They help handle customer concerns, uphold quality assurance, and actively participate in resolving issues raised through the Voice of Customer (VOC) program, ensuring customer satisfaction and loyalty.
This role requires individuals who are available for full-time work including closing shifts and who hold or are willing to obtain certifications such as ServSafe and Open/Close Shift Manager certification. Physical demands include the ability to stand for long periods and perform tasks involving lifting, pushing, pulling, and the use of a headset in a noisy, temperature-variable environment. A successful candidate will demonstrate strong service orientation, teamwork skills, and the capacity to work diligently under pressure while maintaining clear communication.
Wendy's provides a supportive work environment offering competitive benefits such as 401(k) with company match, medical and vision insurance, among other perks, reflective of their commitment to employee well-being and professional growth. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking to advance their careers in restaurant management within a reputable and expansive brand.
