Job Description
This job posting is for a position at a restaurant operated by an independent franchisee licensed to use the McDonald's brand, logos, and food products. This setup means that while the restaurant carries the McDonald's name, the franchisee runs and manages the business independently from McDonald's USA. The franchisee is responsible for all employment-related matters, including hiring, firing, staffing, discipline, scheduling, and supervision. McDonald's USA does not participate in these decisions nor receives employment applications or other hiring documentation. If hired for this role, your employer will be the franchisee, not McDonald's USA.
This opportunity is ideal for individuals seeking a rewarding career in the fast-food and restaurant industry within a well-known global brand but under local ownership. The restaurant environment promises a dynamic, fast-paced workplace where employees can develop valuable skills while contributing to a team-oriented atmosphere. The franchisee-owned restaurant emphasizes a culture of teamwork, professional growth, and commitment to delivering top-quality products and excellent customer service.
The position available is Shift Manager, a critical leadership role focused on ensuring that each shift runs smoothly and meets McDonald's high standards for quality, service, cleanliness, safety, and profitability. As a Shift Manager, you will take charge of the crew and assistant managers, guiding them with effective leadership and clear communication. You will plan shift activities, monitor operational performance, manage inventory and safety protocols, and seek continuous improvement to meet or exceed restaurant goals.
Shift Managers have a wide range of duties including food safety enforcement, internal team communication, inventory management, daily cleanliness and maintenance, crew supervision, quality food production, exceptional customer service, safety and security, scheduling, and training. You will also be responsible for hitting target metrics during your shift and helping your department meet collective goals. The role fosters a leadership style centered around motivation, teamwork, and problem-solving in a fast-paced environment.
To be successful in this position, previous leadership experience—preferably in restaurants, retail, or hospitality—is preferred. The role demands a flexible schedule and a positive attitude, as working in a well-known fast-food brand requires energy, adaptability, and passion for customer service. Candidates must be at least 18 years old to qualify as Shift Managers in corporate-owned restaurants, reflecting both legal requirements and the responsibilities the role entails.
In addition to competitive pay, Shift Managers at these restaurants are eligible for a comprehensive benefits package that supports employees’ well-being, career advancement, and work-life balance. Benefits include paid vacation and holidays, sabbatical opportunities, educational assistance through the Archways to Opportunity program, medical, dental and vision coverage, flexible spending accounts, disability and life insurance, paid leave, service awards, and resources for employee participation and support.
This position offers more than just a job; it provides an opportunity to grow personally and professionally, develop leadership capabilities, and be part of a respected, community-focused franchise. If you enjoy leading a team, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and are committed to delivering excellent customer experiences, this Shift Manager role within a McDonald's franchisee-operated restaurant may be the perfect fit for you. This role allows you to contribute directly to the success of the restaurant, impacting both customers and team members positively. Ultimately, you will be central to upholding the McDonald's brand standards while creating a positive workplace culture under your restaurant's independent ownership.
