The Shift Manager position at Indmanage operates directly under the Restaurant Manager and plays a crucial role in the daily operations of the restaurant. Shift Managers are tasked with managing team members, maintaining smooth shift transitions, and supervising all operational functions during their shift. This role comes with multiple levels of responsibility and growth opportunities, with advancement dependent on operational knowledge, leadership skills, and demonstrated experience. From Shift Level 1, which requires availability for at least three days a week and minimal shift leadership, to Shift Level 4 with open availability and full operational ownership, this role offers a well-defined career path.

This position requires full certification, including completion of the Shift Leader training program and ServSafe certification, to ensure compliance with industry standards and safety requirements. Shift Managers are responsible for managing budgeted costs such as labor, food, and supplies, overseeing inventory processes, and ensuring compliance with safety and security procedures. They lead by example, training team members, conducting operational audits, completing necessary documentation, and maintaining high customer satisfaction and team performance.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • ServSafe Certification
  • Availability as per shift level requirements
  • Completion of Shift Leader training path
  • Basic to advanced understanding of labor percentage
  • Knowledge of inventory management and food cost control
  • Ability to manage operational expenses
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to perform physical demands including lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Willingness to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

Job Duties

  • Ensure the restaurant is clean and well-maintained, and that all company procedures are followed
  • Uphold the standards for food quality, cleanliness, sanitation, and customer service
  • Effectively manage costs within budgeted levels, including cash handling, food products, labor, paper supplies, energy consumption, and other operational expenses
  • Responsible for cash register setup and smooth shift transitions during shift changes
  • Oversee and manage the shift, supervising and directing team members, maintaining clear communication, and ensuring a focus on customer service
  • Train new and existing team members in various job stations and operational procedures
  • Complete all required shift management administrative tasks, including reports, sales readings, and necessary documentation
  • Post sales readings, and conduct shift awareness walk-throughs to ensure operations are running smoothly
  • Observe and enforce all safety and security procedures, ensuring a safe working environment for both staff and customers
