Job Description

Jimmy John’s is a leading fast-casual sandwich restaurant franchise known for its commitment to delivering fresh, high-quality sandwiches quickly and efficiently. Unlike traditional fast food chains, Jimmy John’s takes pride in its unique culture that values exceptional customer service, fast-paced operations, and a clean work environment. The franchise focuses on creating a workplace that is not just about making food but about doing it with F.A.S.S.T.—fresh, always, speed, service, and taste. This culture fosters employee growth and development through competitive wages, benefits, and opportunities for advancement within the company. Jimmy John’s emphasizes a supportive work environment where team members are encouraged to excel and contribute to the overall success of the store and franchise.

The Person in Charge role at Jimmy John’s is a critical leadership position responsible for overseeing the restaurant operations during assigned shifts when management is not present. This role ensures that the store maintains its commitment to quality, cleanliness, and customer satisfaction. The Person in Charge leads a team of 3 to 15 employees, delegating tasks related to food preparation, ordering, inventory management, and cleaning to ensure smooth and efficient store operations. Attention to detail and proactive supervision are essential to minimize waste and loss from theft, maintain high standards of food safety, and deliver an exceptional customer experience.

This position requires a dynamic individual capable of multitasking and leading by example, especially during busy periods. The Person in Charge assists in food preparation duties such as slicing meat and vegetables, portion control, and product rotation to maintain freshness. Additionally, they support administrative tasks including daily and weekly paperwork, and collaborate with team members to ensure preventive maintenance of equipment and supplies. Physical stamina and the ability to perform tasks involving standing, walking, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds are necessary for success in this role.

Jimmy John’s values individuals who demonstrate strong communication skills, a willingness to learn, and a commitment to the franchise’s core values. The role offers a competitive wage that reflects experience and includes a comprehensive benefits package featuring PPO medical, dental, and vision plans, paid time off, and an employee meal program. Career advancement is a key feature of working with Jimmy John’s, with pathways to become assistant managers, general managers, area managers, or directors of operations. New hires receive thorough training and ongoing support from immediate supervisors and the HR department to develop leadership and managerial skills, fostering long-term career growth within the company.

Joining Jimmy John’s as a Person in Charge means becoming part of a fast-growing, fun, and supportive work culture that cares deeply about its employees and customers. It’s an opportunity to work in an environment that not only prioritizes food quality and speed but also personal development and career success. Prospective candidates must be at least 18 years old, capable of working overtime, holidays, and weekends as needed, and ready to commit to a weekly schedule of 40 to 50 hours.
