Shift Leader Trainee

The Shift Leader Trainee position at ABC is designed to prepare motivated individuals for management roles within the store, typically transitioning to Shift Leader within 90 days. This role focuses on increasing store wine and spirits sales by delivering personalized and attentive service to both guests and team members. Trainees are entrusted with acting as Manager on Duty in training, tasked with opening and closing responsibilities, supporting store operations alongside store and assistant managers, and leading sales associates in promoting exceptional customer experiences. The role requires the trainee to handle transaction processes accurately at the Point-of-Sale terminal, including cash handling and applying discounts as per company policy.

In addition to operational duties, the Shift Leader Trainee maintains a clean, organized, and safe store environment covering sales floors, stockrooms, and customer areas like restrooms. They assist with property upkeep, including sweeping, debris removal, shopping cart collection, and trash emptying. The position demands product knowledge, frequent training updates, and adherence to ABC’s operational guidelines to ensure compliance and excellence in service. Trainees gain hands-on experience merchandising and displaying products, managing inventory, unloading deliveries, and assisting guests with gift wrapping, gift basket assembly, carryout services, and other specialized tasks.

This role requires a highly flexible individual willing to work varying schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays according to business needs. Physical demands include extended periods of standing and moving, bending, lifting up to 40 lbs, and occasional use of ladders and step stools for stocking at elevated locations. The position involves exposure to various environmental conditions including refrigerated areas, moderate noise, and outdoor weather during property maintenance. Candidates must have a minimum age of 21 years, a High School Diploma or GED, and at least six months of leadership or management experience, or equivalent education and experience in Business Management or related fields.
