The Restaurant Team Leader role at Church's Chicken is pivotal in maintaining the restaurant’s high standards and delivering outstanding customer experiences. Reporting directly to the Restaurant General Manager and operating within the Field Operations department, this position is tailored for dynamic leaders who embrace coaching, training, and development of team members. The Team Leader ensures shift operations run smoothly by monitoring customer service, food preparation, team performance, and compliance with safety and operational policies. This role demands hands-on leadership, effective communication, and a focus on maintaining the restaurant's cleanliness and product quality.

A typical day for the Restaurant Team Leader involves supervising the team to ensure prompt, friendly, and courteous customer service. The leader ensures all menu items are prepared and served according to Church’s standard procedures and assists team members as necessary to uphold quality and service standards. They are responsible for enforcing safety and security policies while supporting the execution of opening and closing duties through shift checklists.

Additionally, the Team Leader plays a critical role in administrative and operational tasks such as completing weekly sales reports, managing bank deposits, overseeing cash and inventory worksheets, and ensuring accurate entry of inventory and payroll data into the POS system. These responsibilities extend to ensuring the proper closing of the POS system each night and adherence to cash handling and security protocols, including monitoring cash sales counts, drawer bank counts, arm assignments, and other relevant procedures.

This position requires candidates to have a valid driver’s license, access to an automotive vehicle during shifts with proof of insurance, and a commitment to successfully complete the Shift Leader certification program. While a high school diploma or GED is highly recommended, and ServSafe® food safety training is encouraged, the role places significant emphasis on leadership skills, ethical behavior, and an ability to meet attendance standards.

Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • A high school diploma or G.E.D. is highly recommended
  • ServSafe food safety training is highly recommended

Job Qualifications

  • Completes weekly sales report, bank deposit slips, the cash and inventory worksheet, and other forms as required for the shift
  • Ensures accuracy of paperwork
  • Enters inventory and payroll, as required, into the POS system
  • Ensures the restaurant polls nightly by the correct closedown of the POS system
  • Ensures adherence to established cash handling and security procedures, including but not limited to, cash sales counts, drawer bank counts, drawer assignments, POS deletions, over-rings, and voids, large bill drops, and cash levels in the drawer
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license, have access to an automotive vehicle during shifts, and possess proof of insurance on the vehicle
  • Must successfully complete the Shift Leader certification program

Job Duties

  • Monitors and ensures prompt, friendly, and courteous customer service
  • Monitors and ensures all Church’s menu products are prepared and served according to standard procedures
  • Ensures that prepared job assignments and activities are carried out by Team Members
  • Assists Team Members as necessary to prepare quality products, provide service, and maintain a clean restaurant
  • Demonstrates proper procedures for Team Members to follow
  • Ensures that safety and security policies and procedures are enforced
  • Monitors and performs opening and closing duties as required on the Shift Awareness Checklists
