The Shift Leader position at Zaxbys plays a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the restaurant during each shift. The Shift Leader manages the product, process, and people on duty, taking charge of assigning tasks, supervising performance, and resolving any issues that arise. With decision-making authority, the Shift Leader is also responsible for handling guest complaints professionally and ensuring that all restaurant standards related to service, food quality, and cleanliness are consistently met.

This role requires a hands-on leader who can coach and develop team members, align shift activities with operational goals, and maintain compliance with company policies and food safety regulations. The Shift Leader is instrumental in creating a positive workplace culture by recognizing team achievements and leading by example. They also oversee various operational tasks such as receiving deliverables, managing inventory, monitoring food production, and ensuring proper cash handling procedures are followed.

Zaxbys offers a competitive pay range of $17.00 to $18.00 per hour for the Shift Leader position, along with a generous $750 training completion bonus paid in two installments. Job Duties

  • Complete all training requirements including Zaxbys Shift Leader Development Plan, Food Safety Certification, and any additional training required by Zax LLC
  • Create a culture of high-performance and train and coach team members to meet all company standards
  • Mentor, coach, and develop team members and communicate performance concerns to your General Manager
  • Prioritize the guest and team member experience and resolve complaints and concerns in a friendly and respectful manner
  • Create and maintain a positive culture and healthy team morale through recognition and leading by example
  • Communicate shift goals and motivate team members to meet goals and perform to their highest ability level
  • Delegate tasks to team members and supervise performance during a shift
  • Maintain operational standards and ensure compliance with all Zaxby’s franchising LLC and Zax LLC guidelines, policies, and procedures
  • Ensure service, product quality, and cleanliness standards are consistently upheld
  • Enhance guest experiences by ensuring that team members satisfy and exceed guest expectations
  • Receive and reconcile truck deliveries, ensure product is properly stocked, and complete daily inventory counts
  • Manage food production and quality by monitoring prepping, cooking, and holding processes and taking corrective action when necessary
  • Track food safety and quality throughout the shift and ensure guests receive accurate orders that meet company standards and guest satisfaction
  • Plan shift duties and ensure opening and closing duties are complete
  • Collaborate with management team to develop goals and report back to management on goal progress
  • Ensure processes, policies, and procedures are properly followed throughout daily operations
  • Follow company cash management policies
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local laws and guidelines
  • Utilize management tools and keep neat, accurate, and current records
  • Maintain an attitude of flexibility that allows performance above and beyond the parameters of this position description
  • Ensure the team works safely and follows all safety guidelines and procedures
  • Immediately report all human resources and risk management concerns to your General Manager and District Manager
  • Escalate other concerns to your supervisor when appropriate
  • Perform all other duties necessary to ensure restaurant operations function properly
