The role of Shift Leader at Sweetgreen is a pivotal position responsible for leading shifts with a hospitality-first mindset, ensuring exceptional customer experience and smooth operational flow. The Shift Leader supports daily restaurant operations by guiding the team, coaching and motivating team members, and maintaining high standards of food quality, safety, cleanliness, and organization. Shift Leaders manage service pace and priorities across the floor, jump in on any station when needed, and solve problems efficiently under high-pressure, fast-paced environments. The position is ideal for individuals who have leadership experience in restaurant, retail, or hospitality settings and who are passionate about operational excellence and team development. It offers a clear career growth path toward General Manager roles within about two years. The role requires working at least 30 hours a week and being dependable, detail-oriented, and accountable to job responsibilities. Job Requirements

  • Meet all physical requirements for all roles within the Shift Leader career path including the Kitchen Lead and Team Member roles
  • 1+ year of experience in a Shift Leader or Supervisor role
  • Experience in fast-paced environments restaurant retail or hospitality
  • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks while maintaining operational standards
  • Ability to speak read write and understand the primary language(s) of the work location
  • Must be able to work at least 30 hours per week
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States

Job Qualifications

  • Leadership or supervisory experience in restaurants retail or hospitality
  • Passion for hospitality food quality and operational excellence
  • Ability to motivate others and build a positive team culture
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to stay level-headed and solutions-focused under pressure
