Job Description

Sweetgreen is a national restaurant brand that has been at the forefront of the fast-casual dining industry since its inception in 2007. Dedicated to building healthier communities, Sweetgreen connects people to real food by reimagining fast food to be fresh, flavorful, and sustainable. Their commitment goes beyond just food; it's about forging meaningful relationships with farmers, supporting local communities, and creating spaces where food, people, and purpose unite. Sweetgreen has grown into a beloved name across the United States, known for its quality ingredients, hospitality, and innovative approach to restaurant operations. They prioritize the development of their team members, ensuring opportunities for career advancement and personal growth within the company.

The Shift Leader role at Sweetgreen is an exciting and pivotal position within the restaurant team. As a Shift Leader, you play a critical role in guiding the daily operations of the restaurant while fostering a hospitality-first culture that ensures every guest feels welcomed, cared for, and valued. This leadership position requires confidence, energy, accountability, and a passion for both people and food quality. The Shift Leader is responsible for managing the pace and priorities on the floor, supporting team members through coaching and real-time collaboration, and maintaining high standards of food safety, cleanliness, and accuracy throughout every shift. The position offers a unique chance to develop leadership skills in a fast-paced environment and a clear pathway to growth, with top-performing Shift Leaders having the opportunity to advance to General Manager roles within two years.

In this role, you will be at the heart of operations, stepping in wherever needed—whether that’s assisting on any station, resolving guest concerns immediately, or ensuring the overall flow of service remains smooth even during peak hours. You are also tasked with creating a positive work environment by motivating your team, leading by example, and encouraging accountability and detailed-orientedness. Sweetgreen values people who want to take pride in dependable leadership and have aspirations for long-term growth within the hospitality industry. Working at Sweetgreen means becoming part of a movement to redefine fast food and contribute positively to community health and well-being. The employment type involves working at least 30 hours per week, and while compensation varies by location, competitive wages and benefits are offered including medical, dental, vision options, paid time off, and more. Sweetgreen embraces diversity and provides equal employment opportunities to all individuals regardless of identity or background.
