Job Description
McMarro Family Restaurants is a well-established independent franchisee that owns and operates 30 McDonald’s restaurants across Southern California. With over 30 years of industry experience, McMarro has dedicated itself to delivering exceptional service and building a strong foundation of career growth opportunities for its employees. As a key player in the fast-food industry, the company operates under the McDonald’s brand by licensing its logos and food products, while maintaining full autonomy as a separate entity from McDonald’s USA. This means that all employment matters, including hiring, firing, discipline, supervision, staffing, and scheduling, are managed solely by the franchisee, McMarro Family Restaurants, and not by McDonald’s USA. This allows McMarro to foster its distinctive corporate culture built on the core values of Family, Integrity, Community, and Teamwork.
The role of Shift Leader at McMarro Family Restaurants is a pivotal position centered around supporting the General Manager (GM) and Assistant Manager (AM) in the profitable operation of the restaurant. The Shift Leader ensures that the restaurant consistently meets McMarro’s high standards for Quality, Service, and Cleanliness (QSC) during their shift. Serving as an essential partner to the GM and AM, the Shift Leader not only manages the crew members but also takes on important administrative duties such as inventories and scheduling. They play a key role in overcoming barriers to success by offering solutions and maintaining shared accountability for the restaurant’s overall performance.
The Shift Leader’s responsibilities extend beyond basic oversight; this role demands a proactive approach in motivating team members, cultivating a positive and inclusive workplace environment, and resolving conflicts efficiently while adhering to company policies. They lead by example in demonstrating respectful behaviors that recognize cultural and generational differences among employees and customers. Their leadership ensures the smooth operation of shifts by maintaining adherence to safety protocols and fostering an atmosphere where all employees feel valued and encouraged.
Ideal candidates for this position are expected to have a “can-do” attitude and the flexibility to work across all dayparts including mornings, afternoons, nights, and weekends. They must be physically capable of performing job-related tasks which may require standing for extended periods and lifting up to 20 pounds. The Shift Leader is also expected to be adaptable, embracing changes and focusing on actionable solutions rather than obstacles. McMarro Family Restaurants provides comprehensive training and certification opportunities such as Serve Safe certification to equip Shift Leaders with the skills necessary to excel in their duties.
In addition to competitive hourly pay rates ranging from $22 to $24, the Shift Leader benefits from a robust package including medical, dental, and vision coverage, 401k plans with matching contributions, paid sick time in accordance with legislative ordinances, and opportunities for educational advancement through programs like Archways to Opportunity. Employees also enjoy perks such as meal discounts and access to discount programs that contribute to a rewarding work experience.
This position offers both a challenging and rewarding career pathway within a respected franchise system known for its commitment to employee development and community values. As a Shift Leader at McMarro Family Restaurants, you will play an integral role in delivering a positive and efficient dining experience that aligns with the brand’s mission and standards.
