The Shift Leader role at Naf Naf Grill is pivotal in ensuring the seamless operation of the restaurant during assigned shifts. This is a leadership position that involves training, developing, and coaching team members while maintaining high standards for food quality and customer service. The Shift Leader handles various responsibilities such as preparing food orders for dine-in, take-out, or catering, enforcing food safety protocols, and ensuring team members adhere to company policies and procedures. They play a crucial role in fostering teamwork and motivating staff, managing operational objectives related to service, cleanliness, safety, food quality, and training. Additionally, the Shift Leader maintains a safe working environment, oversees cash handling procedures, completes administrative tasks, and provides direct communication and response to customer needs.

Candidates must be at least 18 years old to comply with state and federal labor laws and be able to work varying shifts including weekends and holidays. Food service certifications as required by the state, reliable transportation, and the legal ability to work in the U.S. are mandatory. Physical requirements include the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, endure standing and walking for long periods, and adapt to changing customer volumes with urgency. Competency in intermediate math, reading, listening, and speaking in English is necessary. This role demands leadership in maintaining restaurant operations, from scheduling and training to cleanliness and customer service excellence, all of which contribute to Naf Naf's outstanding reputation.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent education
  • Must be at least 18 years of age due to compliance with State and Federal laws
  • At least 6 months of prior experience working in a fast-paced fast casual restaurant
  • Experience managing shifts (highly preferred)
  • Must meet the minimum criteria in a background check
  • Must be available and willing to work varying shifts including weekends and holidays
  • Able to provide or obtain any state-required food service certifications
  • Able to provide the appropriate documentation to prove U.S. work eligibility
  • Has reliable transportation to and from the work location
  • Able to perform all essential functions of the position
  • Able to read and speak English
  • Able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Required to stand, walk, and exert fast-paced movement for the duration of your scheduled shift
  • Able to adapt to changing customer volume levels with a sense of urgency
  • Able to perform math calculations, reading, listening and speaking skills in English at the intermediate level
  • Able to read and follow recipes and sanitation guides
  • Able to use cooking and/or baking measurement tools according to the listed recipe
  • Able to oversee a fast-paced, customer-focused store through the coordination of schedules, problem solving, training, maintaining cleanliness and providing excellent customer service

Job Duties

  • Trains, develops, and coaches team members during assigned shift
  • Prepares food according to the orders for dine in, take out, or catering
  • Holds restaurant team accountable on their shift for consistently delivering excellent customer service and food quality in adherence with procedures and food safety requirements
  • Communicates directly with customers and responds to customer needs
  • Maintains a clean and safe working environment by following cleaning and organization procedures
  • Follow checklists, recipes, and all Naf Naf standards
  • Achieves operational objectives in service, cleanliness, safety and security, food quality, procedural compliance, and training
  • Assigns tasks to team members during shift
  • Follows all cash handling procedures and ensure proper counts
  • Completes all administrative and office tasks for their shift
  • Understands and follow all policies and applicable labor laws
  • Other tasks as assigned as well as, but not limited to, following all Company policies and procedures
