Job Description

Sweetgreen is a nationally recognized restaurant brand committed to building healthier communities by connecting people to real, wholesome food. Since its founding in 2007, Sweetgreen has redefined the fast food experience by focusing on fresh, flavorful meals sourced responsibly from farmers and local partners. As a leader in the fast-casual dining space, Sweetgreen operates multiple locations across the United States and is known for its dedication to sustainability, community engagement, and creating a positive workplace for its employees. The company fosters a culture centered around health, hospitality, and purpose, ensuring that both its team members and guests experience the benefits of real food and genuine human connection. Sweetgreen champions equal opportunity and inclusivity by ensuring fair hiring practices without discrimination based on sex, gender identity, race, age, disability, veteran status, or any other protected category. They also support all employees through various benefits and career growth opportunities, making it a great place to build a long-term career in the restaurant industry.

The Shift Leader role at Sweetgreen is a pivotal position within the restaurant team that combines leadership, operational management, and a hospitality-driven mindset. As a Shift Leader, you will be responsible for guiding the team through daily restaurant operations while embodying Sweetgreen's mission to create healthier communities through better food. This role requires confidence, energy, and accountability to lead shifts effectively by managing service pace, priorities, and team morale. You will jump in to assist at various stations as needed, modeling excellent performance and teamwork, while also coaching team members to raise standards across service, food quality, and operational excellence. Maintaining food safety, cleanliness, and accuracy at all times will be essential to this role. The Shift Leader will communicate clearly and remain calm to solve problems during high-volume or pressured moments, ensuring that every guest’s experience is welcoming and positive. The role offers a clear growth path and is ideal for individuals who aspire to advance into higher management positions such as General Manager within two years. Sweetgreen emphasizes professional development by providing resources and opportunities for team members to build leadership skills and grow their career within the company. On top of being a dynamic and meaningful position, this role promises competitive wages, potential tips depending on location and role, and a range of benefits including medical, dental, vision coverage, paid vacation, wellness time, parental leave, and access to a 401(k) plan. Every shift, you also enjoy a complimentary meal, adding a unique perk to the day-to-day experience. Sweetgreen values dependability, accountability, and positive team culture, expecting Shift Leaders to be organized, detail-oriented, and passionate about food quality and hospitality. This position requires a minimum of one year of supervisory experience in hospitality, retail, or similar fast-paced environments, along with the ability to handle multiple tasks while maintaining high standards. With a commitment to diversity, growth, and innovation, Sweetgreen is not just offering a job but a chance to be part of a movement transforming the future of fast food and creating healthier communities.
