The Shift Leader role at Caribou Coffee is a critical position that involves overall leadership and direction of the store in collaboration with the General Manager or Assistant General Manager. This role is designed for individuals who are passionate about providing outstanding customer experiences while effectively managing team operations. The Shift Leader ensures the team fully understands the goals, expectations, product knowledge, cleanliness standards, new directives, and guest connections throughout their shift. As a Shift Leader, you will be challenged to demonstrate mastery in executing tasks with enthusiasm and excellence, leading shifts that prioritize team engagement and guest satisfaction. You are expected to think strategically about maximizing product sales and minimizing waste while maintaining a strong vision for the overall look and feel of the store. Effective communication is key, as you will consistently leverage this skill on the floor during your shift to address team and guest needs proactively.

Your responsibilities will include coaching team members in real-time, training staff on their roles and product knowledge, performing essential administrative tasks such as bank deposits and inventory management, and driving the team toward meeting standard operating procedures and quality standards. The role requires you to take ownership not only during your shift but also in ensuring a smooth transition and impact on the following shift.

Job Requirements

  • at least 1 year of leadership, restaurant, retail or customer service experience required, or properly trained and approved by Caribou Coffee to take responsibility as a shift leader

  • responsible for ensuring that the team is executing SOP and quality standards correctly and consistently
  • actively and in the moment coaches and gives feedback to team members to ensure they are bringing their best doing and being to their role
  • trains team on role responsibilities, product knowledge and promotional items
  • performs administrative tasks with integrity and to completion, including bank deposits, inventory, store product orders and others as assigned
