Job Description

Torchy’s Taco is a renowned and rapidly expanding restaurant chain that originated in Austin, Texas in 2006. Starting as a humble food trailer with a dedicated executive chef’s vision, the company has evolved to operate multiple restaurants nationwide, consistently delivering high-quality, inventive tacos and a unique dining experience to its customers. Torchy’s has built its reputation on creative flavors, commitment to quality, and a vibrant, welcoming culture that resonates deeply with staff and guests alike. Known for its slogan "Damn Good Tacos," Torchy’s Taco has become a beloved culinary staple in many communities, combining delicious food with exceptional service.

As a Shift Leader at Torchy’s Taco, you will play a critical role in the daily success of the restaurant, ensuring that every shift operates seamlessly and guests receive outstanding service. In this leadership position, you will be responsible for overseeing both Front of House (FOH) and Back of House (BOH) activities, creating an environment that champions teamwork, operational excellence, and customer satisfaction. Your role will balance hands-on involvement with managerial oversight; you will lead by example while supporting your team members, guiding them to meet performance standards and uphold Torchy’s values.

Your responsibilities as a Shift Leader include managing shift operations with a focus on delivering a "Damn Good" experience to guests. This means taking charge of opening and closing procedures, maintaining kitchen and dining area standards, supervising cash handling, and ensuring compliance with food safety and cleanliness regulations. Key holder duties require trusted management of the restaurant’s security through opening and closing processes.

You will also play a hands-on role in task delegation, prioritizing operational needs and ensuring your team members have clear direction on their duties throughout the shift. Active engagement with guests to promptly address their needs and any concerns forms a core part of your interactions, enhancing overall customer satisfaction. Beyond operational duties, you will assist with hiring, training, and mentoring new and existing team members, fostering growth and development opportunities within the organization.

Adaptability is essential as Torchy’s is a fast-paced, dynamic environment requiring calm and effective problem-solving skills. Communication also forms a backbone of this role—you will ensure clear, open, and encouraging lines of communication among team members, facilitating a positive and productive shift atmosphere. Your attention to detail ensures food quality, safety standards, and cleanliness are never compromised.

Compensation for this role ranges from $18.00 to $20.00 per hour based on experience, with flexible scheduling to accommodate varying shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Torchy’s Taco offers incredible growth opportunities, positioning this position as more than just a job—it can lead to a promising Damn Good career. The company also provides benefits such as a food discount card for you and your spouse, medical, dental, and vision insurance after one year of employment for full-time team members, 401(k) eligibility after six months, paid time off after one year, and access to the Torchy’s Family Foundation, which supports team members in times of need and crisis. Being part of Torchy’s is joining a community dedicated to great food, excellent service, and mutual respect.
