Job Description

Sweetgreen is a national restaurant brand dedicated to building healthier communities by connecting people to real food. Since its founding in 2007, Sweetgreen has been a pioneer in reimagining fast food, emphasizing fresh, flavorful meals made from quality ingredients sourced directly from farmers and local communities. The company commits to sustainability, transparency, and creating a positive impact, not only through its food offerings but also through the cultivation of meaningful relationships with its customers and team members. Sweetgreen operates numerous locations across the United States, where each restaurant serves as a community hub promoting wellness and healthful living. As Sweetgreen continues to expand, it remains deeply committed to nurturing the talent within its workforce and fostering an inclusive culture where everyone feels valued and empowered. With a focus on leadership development, Sweetgreen provides career-building opportunities and pathways for growth within the company, ensuring that team members can advance at a pace that aligns with their goals and contributions.

The role of Shift Leader at Sweetgreen is a dynamic and impactful position central to the company’s mission of connecting people with wholesome food to build healthier communities. As a Shift Leader, you are entrusted with guiding teams during fast-paced shifts, delivering exceptional hospitality, and ensuring operational excellence. You lead by example with energy, confidence, and accountability, creating an environment where team members are supported, guests receive outstanding service, and food quality and safety remain paramount. The Shift Leader plays a critical role in supporting daily restaurant operations—from managing workflow and priorities to jumping in on various stations to help as needed. This leadership position requires strong communication, problem-solving skills, and the ability to remain composed during high-volume periods. Sweetgreen sees Shift Leaders as future General Managers and provides clear advancement opportunities, with many Shift Leaders progressing into General Manager roles within two years. This role is an excellent fit for those passionate about hospitality, food quality, and operational success, eager to motivate others, build a positive team culture, and grow their careers in restaurant management and leadership. Employment is part-time or full-time based on the restaurant’s needs, with compensation competitive within the industry and additional perks such as medical, dental, vision benefits, paid time off, retirement plans, and more depending on eligibility. Joining Sweetgreen as a Shift Leader means being part of a movement that rewrites the future of fast food while simultaneously investing in your personal and professional growth.
