Job Description
Fuel America is a vibrant and dynamic café committed to delivering outstanding coffee experiences and exceptional guest services. Known for its dedication to quality and customer satisfaction, Fuel America operates in a fast-paced food service industry where teamwork, reliability, and attention to detail are essential. As a company, they are focused on maintaining a welcoming environment where every guest feels valued and every product meets high standards of excellence. The café fosters a culture built on integrity, respect, and continuous improvement, guided by a strong mission, vision, and values that focus on community engagement and providing a positive experience to both customers and employees.
The Shift Lead/Lead Barista position at Fuel America is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing café operations in the absence of the General Manager. This role is vital for ensuring that all aspects of the café—from food preparation and beverage quality to customer service and safety standards—are managed efficiently during shifts. The Shift Lead acts as both a hands-on crew member and a leader, providing guidance, support, and training to the team while maintaining the smooth operation of the café. This position requires a proactive attitude, solid communication skills, and a strong customer service orientation to uphold the café's reputation for excellence.
Employed as a variable hour employee, the Shift Lead/Lead Barista position is non-exempt under FLSA requirements, reflecting the flexible and operationally driven nature of the role. Individuals in this position are entrusted with opening and closing duties, ensuring cleanliness and security of the café, handling cash and register operations, and addressing any incidents or issues during their shift. This role also emphasizes upselling and making personalized recommendations to guests to enhance their experience. The ideal candidate will have a thorough knowledge of menu items, an ability to work collaboratively with the team, and a commitment to following all established procedures and recipes provided by Fuel America.
This opportunity is well-suited for someone who enjoys a fast-paced environment, values teamwork, and takes pride in delivering high-quality products and exceptional service. It allows for growth and development within the food service industry while contributing significantly to the culture and success of the café. Overall, this role is integral to maintaining Fuel America’s standards and customer satisfaction by leading by example, coaching team members, and ensuring a positive and efficient café environment.
