Job Description

The hiring establishment is a well-known franchised restaurant located in Portland, Oregon, operating under the globally recognized KFC Corporation brand. KFC, known for its heritage of quality fried chicken and fast-service dining, has a strong presence across the United States and worldwide, boasting a legacy of over 80 years. This particular location at 5721 NE Martin Luther King Blvd is part of the Northwest Restaurants family of franchise operators, which manages several restaurant brands in the region. As an independent franchised business, this restaurant upholds the standards of KFC’s brand while adapting to the local community’s service and quality expectations.

This opportunity is for a Team Member role within this KFC franchised restaurant, classified under the Team Member career area. The position offers an hourly wage structure with average hours of 30 or more per week, though hours might fluctuate according to business demands. The role is crucial in supporting the Restaurant General Manager (RGM) by operating shifts autonomously and ensuring smooth daily operations. While employees are encouraged to seek assistance when needed, the Team Member is expected to demonstrate ownership, problem-solving skills, and a readiness to assist other team members. The shift leadership responsibility includes executing the Manager-In-Charge (MIC) Success Routine, ensuring that standards related to customers, people management, and service excellence are met consistently.

The Team Member ensures the delivery of consistent customer satisfaction by monitoring and maintaining food safety, quality, and order accuracy. They are tasked with facilitating a positive and pleasant customer experience by greeting patrons warmly and resolving complaints effectively while maintaining excellent customer relations. Additionally, the role involves supervising that team members adhere to completing their assigned Shift Excellence tasks, maintain company uniform standards, and present a neat and professional appearance.

A large part of the role is demonstrating a customer-first mentality, urgency in task execution, and cooperative teamwork among peers and management. The Team Member must exhibit a high degree of initiative and energy, proactively contributing beyond the basic requirements of the position. They have a responsibility to provide constructive and complimentary feedback to team members and participate actively in their training and development. Conflict resolution in collaboration with the RGM is also a critical part of the job.

Further responsibilities encompass assisting with profit and loss management through adherence to cash control and security procedures, managing inventory, and labor cost efficiency. They ensure that food preparation and handling comply with company standards for rotation, portioning, cooking, and holding times. Facility maintenance and compliance with health and safety regulations are prioritized to provide a safe and inviting environment for both customers and employees.

Candidates interested in this role should be at least 18 years old and able to pass a background check and drug test. Reliable transportation is necessary given the location and shift work requirements. Physical demands include standing, walking, stooping, and lifting items up to 50 pounds for the majority of the shift. The employer emphasizes an internal promotion policy, showing a strong preference for candidates moving up from Hourly Champion positions, which suggests a commitment to career development within the franchise.

KFC Corporation and its franchisees are equal opportunity employers committed to diversity and inclusion. Employment offers are contingent upon a satisfactory background check and eligibility verification. While this position is tied to a franchisee-operated location, it carries the backing of the internationally recognized KFC brand and its commitment to high service and food quality standards, providing solid career growth opportunities in the fast food industry.
