Reporting to the General Manager and Assistant Manager, the Shift Lead is responsible for ensuring that the team performs efficiently during their shift while maintaining a positive work environment and superior guest service. This role requires excellent leadership skills, the ability to delegate tasks fairly, and the capacity to manage labor costs and inventory controls effectively. A Shift Lead must uphold company operational policies, including cash handling, sanitation, safety, and security guidelines to ensure a safe environment for both team members and guests.\n\nIn this role, the Shift Lead acts as a hands-on leader, ready to assist team members across all shop operations and set an example by preparing menu items in accordance with Capriotti's quality standards. They are responsible for maintaining cleanliness and organization throughout the restaurant, including the dining room, restrooms, and food prep areas. The Shift Lead fosters a team-oriented atmosphere, recognizing individual and collective accomplishments, and provides clear communication to keep the team informed and prepared for each shift. Flexibility in scheduling is essential, as shifts may include days, afternoons, or nights, with work expected during weekends. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalency
- Previous supervisory experience preferred
- Hospitality industry experience preferred
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Proven track record as a team member
- Excellent guest service skills
- Ability to take direction and delegate responsibilities
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Team-oriented, adaptable, dependable
- Effective communication skills
- Flexible schedule including nights and weekends
- Physical ability to move throughout restaurant for extended periods
- Ability to move 50 pounds for up to 10 feet
- Ability to balance and move up to 25 pounds for up to 50 feet
- Must maintain regular and consistent attendance and punctuality
Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- Delegate duties and assign specific tasks to team members to prepare for guests
- Contribute to a team environment by recognizing and reinforcing team accomplishments
- Follow inventory control procedures and guidelines
- Adhere to Capriotti's operational policies including cash handling, sanitation, and safety
- Assist with labor management costs
- Promote Capriotti's values and culture with integrity and knowledge
- Demonstrate proficiency in all areas of shop operations to assist during shifts
- Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the shop and manage setup and breakdown
- Prepare and role model menu items according to Capriotti's standards
- Oversee food quality production for standards
- Greet guests to make them feel welcome and comfortable
- Maintain a positive work environment and punctual attendance during shifts
- Manage time effectively while meeting all responsibilities
- Follow safety and sanitation procedures including knife handling and kitchen equipment
