Job Description
Five Guys is a well-known and respected American fast-casual restaurant chain specializing in high-quality burgers, fries, and beverages. Established with a commitment to quality and customer satisfaction, Five Guys has grown significantly across the United States and internationally, known for its made-to-order food, fresh ingredients, and exceptional service. The company values a positive work environment where teamwork, consistency, and hands-on leadership create a dynamic atmosphere for both employees and guests. At Five Guys, every team member plays an essential role in upholding brand standards and fostering a welcoming experience that keeps customers coming back.
The Shift Leader position at Five Guys is a pivotal role designed for hands-on leaders who aspire to make a difference each shift. This role is more than just supervising; it involves actively engaging with the team by working alongside crew members in various operational functions such as cashiering, grilling, prepping, and maintaining the dining area. Shift Leaders set the tone for the entire shift by modeling outstanding customer service and guiding the team to deliver fast, accurate service that ensures every guest leaves impressed.
This position offers hourly pay starting at $20.50 to $22.00, plus tips and bonuses, making it a rewarding opportunity for those who want to progress in the hospitality industry. The Shift Leader is responsible for stepping in to oversee operations whenever management is not present, handling key shift tasks such as coordinating breaks, managing cash handling procedures, and completing closing reports. The role requires someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, has a strong team-first mindset, and demonstrates excellent communication skills.
As a Shift Leader, you will coach, support, and motivate fellow crew members to perform at their best, helping to train new team members while fostering a positive and inclusive culture. Maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the restaurant is also an essential part of the role, alongside ensuring adherence to brand standards at all times. This opportunity offers real growth potential, as many Shift Leaders advance into Assistant Manager and General Manager roles within the company, supported by a fast-paced, high-energy team environment.
The work environment is active, requiring you to be on your feet and engaged throughout the shift. You will work around hot equipment in a busy kitchen setting and occasionally move or handle supplies. Food safety certification, such as ServSafe, is preferred but not mandatory, demonstrating Five Guy's commitment to safe and quality food handling practices.
Joining Five Guys as a Shift Leader means you’re stepping into a leadership role where your hard work is recognized, your growth is encouraged, and every shift truly matters. The company emphasizes equal employment opportunity, striving to increase diversity and inclusion across all levels. By applying for this position, you become part of a brand that prioritizes quality, teamwork, and a supportive working environment, making it ideal for those ready to lead and make a difference every day.
