Job Description
Five Guys is a leading fast-casual restaurant chain known for its fresh ingredients, made-to-order burgers, and commitment to quality service. Founded in 1986, it has grown into a globally recognized brand with thousands of locations, emphasizing a customer-centric approach and a lively, supportive work environment. The company is dedicated to providing an exceptional dining experience and fostering a culture of respect, teamwork, and growth among its employees.
This opportunity is for the role of Shift Leader at a Five Guys restaurant. The Shift Leader plays a vital part in ensuring smooth operation during a shift by leading the team and stepping in to manage the restaurant when management is absent. The pay for this position starts at $17.50 per hour, with additional earnings available through tips and bonuses. As a hands-on leader, the Shift Leader not only supervises but actively participates in daily tasks such as cashiering, grilling, prepping, and ensuring the dining area is clean and welcoming. This role demands a fast-paced, dynamic individual who thrives in a high-energy environment and enjoys working closely with team members.
The Shift Leader is responsible for delivering fast, accurate service that creates memorable guest experiences every time. Coaching, supporting, and motivating crew members are essential to this role, fostering a positive culture and encouraging individual growth. Training new employees and maintaining cleanliness, safety, and brand standards across the restaurant are key responsibilities. Additionally, the Shift Leader manages shift-related administrative tasks including cash handling, breaks, and closing reports.
Ideal candidates come with 1 to 2 years of experience in restaurants, retail, or hospitality, preferably with some leadership exposure. Strong communication, a team-first attitude, and the ability to remain calm and decisive in busy situations are critical to success. Proficiency in basic math and familiarity with point-of-sale (POS) systems are also important.
Working as a Shift Leader provides numerous growth opportunities, with many leaders advancing to Assistant and General Manager positions. The work environment is active and engaging, requiring standing for long periods, working around hot kitchen equipment, and handling supplies as necessary. Food safety certification, such as ServSafe, is preferred but not mandatory.
In joining Five Guys as a Shift Leader, you'll be part of a brand that values quality, consistency, and teamwork. You'll gain hands-on leadership experience in a fast-paced setting and contribute meaningfully to an energetic team atmosphere. If you're driven to lead by example and excited to develop your career within a supportive and growth-oriented company, this position is a perfect fit.
