Job Description

Five Guys is a well-established fast-casual restaurant chain known for its commitment to quality, consistency, and customer service. Founded in 1986, Five Guys has grown into a beloved brand across the United States and internationally, famous for its fresh, made-to-order burgers and fries. The company prides itself on creating a positive work environment that values teamwork, hands-on leadership, and growth opportunities for its employees. By fostering a culture centered on quality and customer satisfaction, Five Guys has built a loyal customer base and a reputation for excellence in the competitive restaurant industry.

The Shift Leader role at Five Guys is much more than a traditional supervisory position. Shift Leaders are hands-on, active team members who set the tone for every shift by leading by example and delivering exceptional customer service. They play a vital role in the daily operations of the restaurant, stepping into various roles from cashiering to food preparation when needed. As a Shift Leader, you will be responsible for motivating and coaching crew members, ensuring operational tasks are completed efficiently, and maintaining a safe and clean environment that meets brand standards. This is a dynamic position best suited for individuals who thrive in fast-paced environments, enjoy working with people, and aspire to grow within the restaurant industry.

Employment is typically part-time or full-time, with a starting pay of $17.00 per hour, plus tips and bonuses, making it a competitive opportunity for those looking to advance their career. Five Guys offers a supportive team atmosphere where leadership skills are cultivated through hands-on experience every shift. Shift Leaders also benefit from real growth opportunities, as many advance to Assistant Manager and General Manager roles. The role demands a team-first mindset, strong communication skills, and the ability to stay calm and make decisions under pressure. Candidates should have 1 to 2 years of experience in restaurant, retail, or hospitality roles, preferably with leadership experience. Comfort using POS systems and basic math skills are also essential.

Working as a Shift Leader means being an engaged, active part of a busy kitchen and dining environment. The role involves lifting and moving supplies, working around hot equipment, and being on your feet throughout the shift. Food safety certification, such as ServSafe, is preferred to ensure compliance with health standards. If you are ready to lead a team and make a difference every day, this position offers the chance to join a brand that values quality, teamwork, and consistency, while providing a high-energy, fast-paced work environment that truly recognizes and rewards hard work.
