The role of a Cook at Crescent Hotels & Resorts is vital to the culinary team, ensuring the preparation of high-quality food items that meet strict production and quality standards while maintaining a safe, sanitary work environment. This is a full-time hourly position, with wages ranging from $17.50 to $21.00 per hour depending on experience, and involves an 8-hour shift schedule totaling 40 hours per week. The Cook will report directly to the Executive Chef or Sous Chef and is expected to operate efficiently within a team-oriented atmosphere. The position requires a minimum of 2 to 4 years of cooking experience in a restaurant or catering setting. The Cook will be responsible for preparing food consistently according to recipe cards, production, and portion standards, ensuring that food is fresh and handled properly according to Crescent Hotels & Resorts' strict food safety protocols. Attention to detail is key as the Cook manages inventory, food storage, and equipment operation including fryers, broilers, stoves, steamers, mixers, slicers, ovens, and other kitchen machinery.
Food safety and operational efficiency are paramount. The Cook will also assist in controlling food costs by minimizing waste and loss, adhering to company standards on rotating perishables and managing stock shortages. Effective communication skills in English are necessary not only for coordination within the kitchen but also for interacting with guests when required. Physical stamina is essential as the role involves lifting goods up to 100 pounds and requires fine motor skills to operate kitchen equipment safely.

Job Requirements
- 2 to 4 years of cooking experience in a restaurant or catering setting
- Ability to communicate in English
- Ability to maintain a professional appearance and manner
- Ability to grasp, lift and/or carry goods weighing a maximum of 100 pounds on a continuous schedule
- Finger/hand dexterity to operate food machinery
- Must be willing to work variable 8-hour shifts totaling 40 hours per week
- Availability to comply with attendance rules

Job Duties
- Prepare food of consistent quality following recipe cards and production and portion standards per check from servers
- Start food items that are prepared ahead of time, making sure not to over prepare estimated needs
- Date all food containers and rotate as per Crescent standards, making sure that all perishables are kept at proper temperatures
- Check pars for shift use, determine necessary preparation, freezer pull and line set up
- Note any out of stock items or possible shortages
- Assist in keeping buffet stocked
- Return all food items not used on next shift to designated storage areas, being sure to cover/date all perishables
- Assist in setting up plans and actions to correct any food cost problems, control food waste, loss and usage per Crescent standards
- Operate, maintain and properly clean deep fryer, broiler, stove, steamer, food processor, mixer, slicer, oven steam table, tilt kettle, waffle iron and flat top grill
- Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis
- Perform any other job related duties as assigned
