The University of Utah is currently hiring for part-time Shake Smart Barista positions at multiple campus locations. The Shake Smart Barista is responsible for preparing and serving coffee, espresso drinks, and related food and beverage items while ensuring quality and hygiene standards are met according to HACCP guidelines. Candidates will be expected to interact courteously with customers and team members to create a welcoming atmosphere. The position requires attention to detail, the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, and commitment to excellent customer service. Although previous food service and barista experience is preferred, the university provides on-the-job training for candidates who are willing to learn and grow.
Shifts for part-time baristas vary during the hours of 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM at most locations, with one location operating until midnight. The established pay rate is $15.00 per hour. Job Duties
- Prepares espresso orders for customers and catering using standard measures and recipes
- enters orders accurately into POS device
- accepts cash and charge payments
- replenishes condiments, beverages and general supplies while maintaining cleanliness of service area
- ensures proper presentation, portion control and maintenance of proper serving temperatures
- follows HACCP standards
- maintains sanitation and orderliness of all equipment, supplies and utensils
- ensures proper food preparation by using approved recipes and following prescribed production standards
- cleans equipment and workstation thoroughly before leaving area
- greets customers courteously and interacts to ensure customer satisfaction
- relays customer concerns to supervisors
- serves customers quickly and efficiently
- demonstrates knowledge of daily menu items and explains them accurately to customers
- advocates selling techniques by communicating effectively and assisting customer decision-making
- ensures attractive merchandising of display foods
- performs other duties as assigned
