The Set Up Technician position based in Franklin Park, IL, offers a competitive starting pay range of $28.73 to $34.14 per hour, depending on experience. The role is full-time and offers two available shifts, including a standard 6:30 am to 3:00 pm Monday through Friday schedule with overtime on weekends as needed, or a 7:00 am to 7:00 pm 2-2-3 rotation schedule. This role is critical for ensuring efficient and smooth production operations by performing minor and major changeovers on manufacturing equipment like Lyle Thermoforming and OMG machinery. The technician helps maintain production quality and uptime by making essential adjustments, repairing molds and tools, and assisting maintenance teams with troubleshooting. They also work closely with quality and supervisory staff to release production lines and ensure all first-run parts meet quality standards. The position demands precision, technical skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, with responsibilities that include using measurement equipment such as micrometers and calipers, recording accurate changeover data, and operation of machine control consoles. Job Duties
- Performs minor and major changeovers on production floor for Lyle Thermoforming and OMG equipment
- removes and loads inserts in molds both offline in the tool shop and online
- records accurate changeover event data daily and collaborates with quality and supervision to release lines for production
- assists in basic extrusion operator tasks during inline changeovers and troubleshooting
- repairs forming molds and trim tools to maintain production flow
- performs general maintenance on thermoforming and labeling equipment
- supports maintenance associates in troubleshooting and restoring production lines
- makes machine adjustments and communicates the need for complex maintenance to the Maintenance Manager
- performs duties of other production employees and packers when necessary
- utilizes micrometers, calipers, and other industrial measurement tools for setups and maintenance
- operates machine computer consoles and trains operators on controls
- responsible for initial setup and production of first run parts meeting quality standards (Green Time)
- monitors overall manufacturing processes to assist with OEE shortfalls
- uses the plant's CMMS system to record work performed, labor hours, and parts usage
- maintains daily housekeeping
- works with limited supervision
- performs other assigned duties as needed
