Job Description
Novolex is a leading manufacturer renowned for producing a wide range of food, beverage, and specialty packaging solutions that support various industries including foodservice, restaurant delivery and carryout, food processing, grocery and retail, and industrial sectors. With expertise spanning diverse materials such as resin, paper, molded fiber, aluminum, and more, Novolex offers customers an extensive selection of over 120 product categories, 250 brands, and more than 39,000 stock-keeping units (SKUs). The company is committed to providing both stock and customized packaging products, strategically designed to meet the specialized needs of its clients worldwide. This comprehensive offering positions Novolex as a top-tier packaging supplier in the market.
As a company, Novolex is also deeply committed to sustainability, which is ingrained in its corporate vision. The sustainability framework at Novolex is structured around three core pillars: products, operations, and people. These pillars collectively ensure that the company continues to grow responsibly while minimizing its environmental footprint. Through a range of ambitious initiatives, Novolex relentlessly pursues its sustainability goals, ensuring its operations are aligned with environmental stewardship and social responsibility.
Currently, Novolex is seeking a skilled Set Up Technician to join its manufacturing team. This is a full-time position on the early shift (6:00 AM to 3:30 PM), Monday through Friday, with a pay range from $25.96 to $33.30 per hour, paid weekly. The Set Up Technician plays a critical role in maintaining manufacturing efficiency by ensuring that thermoforming mold set-ups are completed accurately and on schedule. The technician is responsible for installing and removing molds, conducting both minor and major repairs, performing minor mechanical repairs on equipment, and maintaining general housekeeping of the work area and equipment.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working with GE-Fanuc, Allen Bradley, and Siemens equipment and possess basic problem-solving and mechanical skills. They must be capable of performing tool room functions such as welding, machining, and thermoforming set-ups, and be able to read precision tools like rulers, micrometers, and calipers. The role requires working from verbal instructions, sketches, or blueprints and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Additional responsibilities include inspecting operating equipment to identify potential failures, recommending upgrades to improve productivity, maintaining accurate documentation, and safely operating material handling equipment such as forklifts, hand-jacks, and hydraulic cranes. This role demands a team-oriented mindset and flexibility to work in various areas of the plant as needed, including overtime when required. With excellent communication skills and mechanical aptitude, the Set Up Technician contributes significantly to the smooth operation and safety of the manufacturing environment.
This position requires physical stamina as the job involves standing, walking, lifting up to 50 pounds, climbing stairs, and frequent motion such as reaching, handling, and turning. The work environment includes exposure to heat, vibration, and various odors typical in a production plant. Strict adherence to safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment like safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and proper footwear, is mandatory.
Novolex values diversity and inclusion and offers equal employment opportunities to all applicants regardless of race, gender, disability, veteran status, or other protected characteristics. Furthermore, employees have access to extensive benefits including medical, dental, vision insurance, and wellness programs focused on mental, physical, and financial health. Novolex also encourages continuous learning and offers development programs such as skill training, education reimbursement, and leadership courses through its MyLearning platform.
Joining Novolex not only means becoming part of a company at the forefront of packaging innovation and sustainability but also joining a community dedicated to employee well-being, professional growth, and local community support through philanthropy and engagement.
