Job Description

The American Red Cross is a globally recognized humanitarian organization dedicated to providing emergency assistance, disaster relief, and education within communities across the United States and internationally. As the world’s largest humanitarian network, the American Red Cross operates with a mission to prevent and alleviate human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors. The organization holds steadfast to a culture of compassion, inclusivity, and unity, offering vital services that impact millions of people every year. Joining the American Red Cross means becoming part of a wider community devoted to making a meaningful difference, where your skills and dedication help create resilience and hope within individuals, families, and communities.

The American Red Cross is currently hiring for a Mobile SAF Specialist position based at the Marine Corps Air Station Base in Yuma, Arizona. This role is integral to the organization’s efforts in supporting United States military members, veterans, and their families through direct service delivery, community outreach, volunteer management, and program oversight. This position is part of the mobile staff, which entails unique employment conditions including stringent medical and security clearances, and worldwide deployment readiness. Mobile staff members carry the responsibility of deploying for six-month assignments approximately every 18 to 24 months, serving on various military bases around the globe. The role requires flexibility, resilience, and commitment to the Red Cross mission of providing assistance in challenging and potentially conflict-affected environments. Relocation assistance is generally limited to employees already within a 50-mile radius of the division.

In the capacity of a Mobile SAF Specialist, the incumbent will serve as a vital link between the American Red Cross and military communities, acting as the face of the organization at the assigned location while building strong relationships with military leadership and local partners. The role involves managing volunteer engagement efforts, ensuring the effective delivery of Red Cross programs and services including resilience training, morale support, emergency communications, and outreach activities. The specialist is expected to uphold Red Cross policies, comply with federal and state regulations, and deliver programs that promote both service members' well-being and community support. This is a leadership position requiring excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and operational acumen.

The job demands physical and mental stamina to operate in diverse settings, sometimes alongside military personnel in locations that may include conflict zones or harsh environments. The successful candidate must hold U.S. citizenship, be able to secure a secret security clearance, possess a no-fee U.S. passport, and meet specific medical criteria including immunizations required by the military. The American Red Cross offers a supportive and purposeful work environment where staff members are not only valued for their professional contributions but also supported through competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits. The organization prides itself on its commitment to diversity, equal opportunity employment, and the personal and professional growth of its team members. By joining, candidates align themselves with a mission that transcends traditional career goals and fosters meaningful societal impact.
