The Service Technician plays a pivotal role at Rutherford Management Company by being the frontline agent of maintenance and resident satisfaction. This position is designed for an individual who thrives in a dynamic environment, takes pride in meticulous workmanship, and approaches problem-solving with a positive attitude. As part of a dedicated team, the Service Technician responds proactively to service requests, performs critical maintenance duties, and supports the preparation of apartments for new residents. In this role, the Service Technician will serve one of the company’s largest portfolios, encompassing over 350 apartment homes spread across eight communities in the Monterey and Marina area. The technician will work closely with fellow service team members and report directly to the Service Manager and Resident Experience Director. Rutherford values consistent, quality service delivery that contributes to the overall maintenance of curb appeal and common areas. Additionally, the role includes participation in an on-call rotation to address after-hours emergency maintenance needs, adding an important layer of reliability to the company’s service offering.
The opportunity offers a competitive pay range between $22 to $27 per hour, with most new hires starting between $22 and $24 per hour. The position is full-time, Monday through Friday, from 8 am to 5 pm, with occasional evenings or weekends required for the on-call rotation schedule. Candidates must have a valid California Driver’s License, reliable transportation, and automobile insurance compliant with state law, as the role requires regular driving across multiple sites.

Job Requirements
- Minimum of two years general maintenance experience
- Skills in plumbing, electrical, carpentry, appliance repair, and painting
- Strong communication and time management skills
- Valid California driver’s license
- Reliable personal vehicle
- Current automobile insurance compliant with California law
- Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends for on-call rotation
- Team-oriented attitude
