JBG SMITH is currently seeking a Maintenance Technician to join their team, a role that is vital to ensuring the upkeep and maintenance of their residential communities. This position offers the chance to apply technical skills and knowledge to maintain properties at the highest standards. As a Maintenance Technician, you will respond promptly to resident maintenance requests, tackling issues related to air conditioning, heating, appliances, carpentry, electrical systems, and plumbing. Your role will be essential in providing residents with a superior living experience by maintaining the functionality and aesthetics of their homes and the broader community.
The successful candidate will be involved in preparing units for move-in, performing routine preventative maintenance on building systems, and conducting daily inspections to identify and address maintenance needs. You will also be responsible for clearing snow and ice during inclement weather, demonstrating the flexibility to work varied schedules and participate in on-call rotation, which requires responding to emergency situations within 30 minutes or less.

Job Requirements
- High-school diploma or equivalent
- 1 year of maintenance experience in apartments, hotels or similar environment
- ability to diagnose and repair HVAC equipment and appliances
- working knowledge of plumbing fixtures, basic electrical circuitry, carpentry
- skilled in the use of power and hand tools
- possession of a valid driver’s license and dependable transportation
- ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- willingness to work flexible schedule and be on-call
- passion for providing exceptional customer experiences
- HVAC, CFC certification preferred
- plumbing and electrical certification preferred
Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- Assist in the process of making all units ready for move-in
- respond to all resident work order requests to quickly diagnose and correct any air conditioning, heating, appliance, carpentry, electrical and plumbing issues
- perform routine preventative maintenance on building systems
- inspect the community daily to identify any items that need maintenance or repair
- clear snow and ice during inclement weather
- work a flexible schedule and share on-call duty which requires responding to emergencies in 30 minutes or less
