The Service Porter role at Jim Burke Ford Lincoln is an essential position responsible for ensuring exceptional customer satisfaction and smooth operation within the service department. This role requires an individual with a high energy level who thrives in a fast-paced environment and possesses a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. The Service Porter is entrusted with greeting customers, moving vehicles safely in and around the service area, maintaining vehicle cleanliness, and delivering completed vehicles back to customers. Additionally, this role involves transporting customers to and from their homes when requested, supporting the overall customer experience. Candidates must be capable of driving both manual and automatic transmission vehicles and possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills to provide world-class customer service. The position demands a professional appearance, a positive attitude, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Responsibilities also include adhering to all safety and security protocols, maintaining the service drive cleanliness, disinfecting vehicles, and installing protective coverings on vehicles undergoing service. This position requires a dependable, highly organized individual who embraces a service-oriented mindset and displays strong work ethics. The Service Porter schedule is typically Monday through Friday, with shifts from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm or 8:30 am to 5:30 pm, offering consistent hours for work-life balance.

Job Requirements

  • Valid unrestricted driver’s license

Job Qualifications

  • Experience in a similar role a plus
  • Unrestricted driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Must be able to drive both automatic and standard-transmission vehicles
  • Must be able to operate motor vehicles in tight and small spaces
  • Highly professional and dependable
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to interact professionally with customers, vendors, and staff
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Good computer and internet skills

Job Duties

  • Welcomes customers to the service department and attends to their needs
  • Drives vehicles to and from service areas and lot as needed
  • Installs protective coverings (seat covers, steering wheel covers, floor mats, etc.) and tags in all vehicles brought in for service
  • Disinfects each vehicle coming and leaving the dealership
  • Follows all safety and security procedures
  • Washes and cleans vehicles as needed
  • Helps maintain the appearance of the service drive by cleaning driveway, removing dust and debris as necessary
  • Helps maintain shop cleanliness, including windows, doors, floors, etc.
  • Transports customers to and from their home when needed and requested
  • Attends all staff meetings, trainings, and educational classes as required
  • Ensures that required documentation is complete and is in compliance with regulations and standards
  • Performs other duties as assigned
