The role of Service Porter within Truck Centers is pivotal to the seamless operation of the service department. Service Porters are primarily responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the shop and dealership grounds, ensuring all tools and equipment are properly maintained and safe for use. The role requires adherence to a maintenance schedule for routine tasks and managing waste disposal in compliance with company policies. Additionally, Service Porters assist service technicians by delivering parts and supporting their workflow, thereby increasing overall efficiency and safety within the service department.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Driver's license and ability to meet insurance requirements highly preferred
  • Fork truck certification and/or heavy equipment operating experience is a plus
  • Proven mechanical aptitude and dexterity with tools and equipment
  • Ability to operate cleaning equipment
  • Knowledge of shop safety policies and basic hand tool operation
  • Ability to understand written directions and chemical mixing formulas
  • Resourceful, collaborative team player with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Must participate in pre-employment background check and drug screen

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Maintain cleanliness of the shop and dealership grounds
  • Adhere to a scheduled maintenance checklist for routine tasks
  • Sort and dispose of recyclables, scrap metal, and refuse in coordination with vendors
  • Sweep, mop, scrub floors, and clean storage shelves, workbenches, and surfaces
  • Maintain shop equipment including flywheel machines, sandblasters, forklifts, shop presses, wheel lifts, and alignment machines
  • Ensure proper maintenance of 5S Elite organizational signage and taping
  • Assist service technicians and team members to complete tasks safely and efficiently
  • Respond promptly to internal and external customer needs
  • Deliver parts to service bays as needed
