Job Description
Chipotle Mexican Grill, Inc. (NYSE: CMG) is a renowned fast-casual restaurant chain that is revolutionizing the fast-food industry by offering responsibly sourced, classically cooked, real food made from wholesome ingredients without artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives. Established with a mission to cultivate a better world, Chipotle has grown to operate restaurants not only in the United States but also across Canada, the United Kingdom, France, and Germany. What sets Chipotle apart is its commitment to owning and operating all its restaurants in North America and Europe, ensuring quality control and consistency across the brand.
Chipotle's approach to food service challenges the traditional fast-food model by emphasizing sustainable sourcing, food integrity, and customer satisfaction. The company is deeply invested in efforts to innovate within the food industry, focusing on digital platforms, technology integration, and sustainable business practices. Additionally, the company fosters a values-driven and people-first culture, promoting fairness, inclusivity, and equal employment opportunities for all individuals, regardless of their background or characteristics. Chipotle also prides itself on creating a supportive workplace where employees can develop their skills and advance their careers.
The Service Leader role at Chipotle is a pivotal position that emphasizes maintaining an exceptional customer experience through ensuring the preparation and service of safe, high-quality food. This role requires a hands-on leader who can manage restaurant crew effectively, maintain cleanliness and organization on the line, and ensure that all equipment functions properly to provide consistent timely service. Service Leaders work actively during their shifts, contributing beyond their core responsibilities by assisting with other tasks whenever the restaurant is not busy.
In this role, the Service Leader oversees not only food quality and safety but also the training and development of the crew, including cross-training front-of-house team members and supporting crew performance reviews. They are instrumental in promoting Chipotle's "Food With Integrity" philosophy, which is foundational to the company culture. The role also involves administrative duties such as managing cash handling policies, banking responsibilities, and ensuring office and supply management. As such, Service Leaders act as a bridge between frontline employees and management, helping to maintain smooth store operations and a positive team environment.
Chipotle offers competitive compensation for the Service Leader role, with a base pay range of $18.00 to $20.03 per hour, plus eligibility for digital tips. The company also provides a comprehensive benefits package, including tuition assistance, free meals, medical, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, holiday closures, and opportunities for career advancement. Approximately 80% of Chipotle managers began their careers as Crew members, demonstrating the company’s commitment to promoting from within.
By joining Chipotle as a Service Leader, candidates will be part of a forward-thinking organization dedicated to making better food accessible to everyone and fostering an inclusive and supportive workplace that values growth, innovation, and sustainability. This role offers an excellent career opportunity for individuals who are passionate about food safety, customer service excellence, and team leadership in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
