The role of the Porter at Mercedes-Benz of Durham is integral to the smooth running and presentation of the dealership’s vehicle inventory and customer experience. This full-time position primarily involves moving and cleaning vehicles to ensure they are ready for sales or customer delivery. The Porter is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of the lot, running errands for the dealership, and supporting various operational tasks as assigned. This role requires attention to detail, reliability, and the ability to work outdoors in different weather conditions. While there are no direct supervisory responsibilities associated with this position, the Porter plays a crucial role in upholding the dealership’s core values such as servant leadership, teamwork, integrity, and commitment to continuous improvement. The Porter must maintain a clean, safe work environment and adhere strictly to all company safety rules and regulations. The position demands a hands-on approach, physical stamina for frequent movement around the dealership and lifting up to 50 pounds, and excellent interpersonal communication skills for interacting with customers and staff.
Participating in required training to enhance skill and knowledge in dealership operations, the Porter must accurately record working hours in the company’s timekeeping system and ensure the customer service index is maintained at or above company standards.
