Job Description

Located at 9045 Church Street East in Brentwood, Tennessee, Harmony is a reputable senior living community dedicated to providing top-quality care and services to its residents. We are currently seeking a Server to join our team to deliver exceptional meal service to our residents and guests. This role is essential in ensuring our dining experience is seamless, pleasant, and supportive of our residents' individual needs. The Server will be responsible for assisting residents when placing orders, providing beverage service including water, iced tea, juices, milk, and coffee or tea, and ensuring dining areas, including the kitchen and eating spaces, are clean and well-maintained after each meal. This position requires an understanding of sit-down service and proper serving techniques, attention to cleanliness, and the ability to interact compassionately with residents who may have mobility deficits or memory impairments. The Server will also perform duties such as refilling condiments like salt, pepper, and sugar, reporting any broken equipment, assisting with tray service, and maintaining confidentiality regarding resident information. The ideal candidate will be organized, attentive, and willing to work collaboratively within a team environment.

This role demands a flexible work schedule that includes evenings, weekends, and holidays, reflecting the nature of care services in a residential community. Servers must be physically able to stand and walk for up to three hours at a time and lift 50 pounds regularly while carrying heavy objects for distances up to 20 feet. Job Requirements

  • Must be in clean designated uniform during working hours and maintain good personal hygiene
  • must be able to read and follow simple instructions
  • must possess the ability to perform simple, repetitive tasks
  • must be able to learn quickly and apply learned principles
  • must be able to communicate effectively and work under close supervision
  • must be able to bend, reach, grasp, push, and pull objects
  • must be able to stand and walk for sustained periods up to three hours at a time
  • must be able to lift 50 lbs on a regular basis and carry heavy objects for 20 feet
  • must be organized and willing to work well with other team members
  • must be willing to work a flexible schedule that includes evenings, weekends, and holidays

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • prior experience in food service or customer service is an asset
  • ability to follow instructions and work under supervision
  • good communication skills
  • basic knowledge of food handling and hygiene
  • ability to work well with others
  • understanding of confidentiality practices

Job Duties

  • Assist residents when placing orders from the menu
  • provide beverage service including water, iced tea, juices, milk, and coffee or tea
  • refill salt, pepper, and sugar bowls prior to and after each meal
  • report any broken equipment or tableware to supervisor
  • understand sit-down service and proper serving techniques
  • have a basic understanding of food preparation such as salads and desserts
  • knowledge of proper food storage and labeling techniques
  • sweep, mop, and vacuum kitchen and dining room
  • attend required in-services and staff meetings
  • complete all other duties assigned
  • be attentive to the special needs of residents including mobility deficits and memory impairment
  • assist with tray service
  • follow confidentiality policies regarding release of resident information
  • interact politely and considerately with residents, guests, co-workers, and supervisors
