Sonesta International Hotels is currently hiring for the position of Server/Bartender, a role integral to their mission of "Wowing" guests and providing amazing moments. The Server/Bartender sets the tone for the guest's experience by welcoming them warmly, taking food and beverage orders, preparing and serving drinks and food, and ensuring service is delivered in a timely and courteous manner that meets Sonesta's high-quality standards. The position requires strict adherence to cleanliness and sanitation guidelines and necessitates maintaining bar supplies and responsible handling of inventory and cash. The ideal candidate possesses a passion for hospitality and exceptional guest service, demonstrating excellent organizational skills and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Additionally, this role requires flexibility to work evening shifts, specifically from 2 PM to 9 PM or 4 PM to 11 PM from Sunday through Wednesday, with a minimum commitment of three shifts per week and opportunity for additional shifts.

Physical demands of the role include working primarily indoors and tolerating varying temperatures such as those found in kitchens and freezers, as well as standing for extended periods with mobility for the entire shift. Candidates should be able to work ten to twelve-hour shifts, including weekends and holidays. Experience as a Server/Bartender, preferably in a high-volume setting, is required along with familiarity with computerized cash registers. A high school diploma or GED is preferred. Key responsibilities include greeting guests warmly, knowledge and preparation of menu items, inventory management, adhering to cash handling policies, performing closing duties, and maintaining safety, sanitation, and grooming standards.

Job Requirements

  • Experience as a server/bartender required preferably in a high-volume bar
  • Experience with computerized cash registers preferred
  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred
  • Must have open availability to work evening shifts (2PM-9PM or 4PM-11PM) on Sunday Monday Tuesday and Wednesday
  • Required to work 3 shifts per week with an opportunity to pick up more
  • Must be able work in a fast-paced environment
  • Majority of work takes place indoors
  • Must be able to tolerate extreme temperatures i.e. kitchens freezers
  • Must be flexible to work variable days of the week to include weekends and holidays
  • Ten to twelve hour shifts sometimes required

  • Previous front facing guest service experience required

  • Ensure overall guest satisfaction

Job Duties

  • Greet welcome and interact with guests in a warm and friendly manner
  • Take orders prepare drinks according to recipes and serve all food and beverage requests in the bar
  • Demonstrate complete knowledge of the food and beverage menu
  • Prepare the bar for service by ensuring bar supplies garnishes utensils are properly set up in accordance with quality standards
  • Inventory unused liquor and beverages
  • Ensure that all liquor is properly secured before during and at close of shift
  • Adhere to all cash handling and credit card policies and procedures
  • Ensure that all drink orders from servers are accurately rung into the P.O.S. system
  • Clean and reset bartop and tables immediately after guests depart
  • Complete all closing duties and reports as assigned
  • Secure all liquors beers wines coolers cabinets and storage areas
  • Adhere to established safety and sanitation guidelines
  • Adhere to uniform and grooming standards
  • Perform other duties or projects as requested by management
