The Server role at Sunrise Senior Living is integral to delivering high-quality dining experiences to residents and guests. This position involves providing timely and professional meal service, maintaining a welcoming and hospitable atmosphere, and ensuring adherence to food safety and sanitation standards. Servers play a vital role in enhancing the residents' quality of life by fostering personal connections and offering attentive service that meets individual preferences and needs.
As a Server, you will be responsible for taking and delivering meal orders, bussing and resetting tables, and maintaining cleanliness in the dining areas. Additionally, you will engage with residents to assist with menu selections and respond to questions with professionalism and care. The role requires participation in pre-meal meetings to stay informed about menu offerings and ensures accuracy through the use of Sunrise's ordering systems.
Beyond meal service, the position includes side work duties such as washing and sanitizing dishes, sweeping work areas, and assisting with light meal preparation. Safety and compliance with regulations related to food handling and occupational health are paramount, with training provided to meet state and local requirements. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum of one year experience preferred in fine dining hospitality and/or full-service senior living
- Maintain CPR and First Aid certification
- Maintain ServeSafe certification
- Maintain Local Health Department Food Handler Card
- Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
- Comply with health and safety regulations including food handling and occupational safety
- As applicable, sign and comply with Driver job description for use of Sunrise vehicles
- Complete required pre-employment screenings and health evaluations including Covid-19 and Influenza vaccination if mandated by law
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum of one year experience preferred in fine dining hospitality and/or full-service senior living
- Maintain CPR and First Aid certification

- Competent in organizational and time management skills
- Ability to handle multiple priorities

Job Duties
- Cultivate a warm and hospitable environment by making personal connections with residents and guests and treating all with professionalism and respect
- Take and deliver food orders in a timely manner
- Bus and reset tables per company standards
- Clean and maintain the dining room and bistro to the highest standards per company guidelines
- Complete required side work as assigned
- Attend pre-meal meeting to gain knowledge of the meal
- Maintain knowledge of menu items and provide general descriptions
- Assist residents with menu selections and respond professionally to questions about menu items
- Use Sunrise systems per guidelines for order taking and meal delivery to ensure accuracy
- Practice safe food handling procedures in compliance with federal, state, provincial, and local laws and Sunrise policies
- Comply with occupational health and safety regulations, including use of PPE, fire extinguishers, SDS, and Lockout Tagout procedures
- Perform other Dining Services duties such as washing and sanitizing dishes, sweeping work areas, preparing and serving light meals, assisting with food preparation and plating
- Participate actively as a member of a team and commit to working toward team goals
- Demonstrate Team Member Credo in daily interactions
- Commit to serving residents and guests through Principles of Service
- Contribute to engagement programs and processes
- Attend regular meetings as directed
- Maintain compliance in assigned required training
- Perform other duties as assigned
