The role of Server at Pebble Beach Company is crucial in delivering the exceptional guest experience that the brand is known for. This position involves providing prompt and courteous service of all food and beverages to guests, maintaining a professional and friendly demeanor at all times. Servers are expected to manage side stations, set up tables with appropriate dining ware and condiments, greet guests with warmth, and offer knowledgeable recommendations about menu items and beverages. Expertise in wine service, including opening and pouring, is essential to enhance the guest dining experience. In addition, servers help maintain cleanliness and order in their assigned areas, assist with buffet and event setups, and process guest payments accurately using the Micro point of sale system. The ability to respond promptly to guest needs and use suggestive selling techniques to enhance guest satisfaction and optimize sales is important. This position requires teamwork with floor and kitchen staff to ensure seamless service delivery in a fast-paced, often high-pressure environment.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in a restaurant serving role
  • Valid food safety certification
  • Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) certification
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Reliable transportation to work location

Job Duties

  • Stock side station with juices, tea, ice and waters
  • Set-up workstation tables with china, glass, silver, condiments, flowers and napkins
  • Greet guests, introduce menu or buffet layout and describe special items
  • Offer beverages after greeting guests
  • Answer questions regarding style, presentation, quality and price of all food and beverages
  • Take the guests' food and drink orders
  • Open bottle and pour wine, refilling glasses for wine, water and other beverages as needed
  • Observe guests' progress and respond in a timely way to their needs
  • Strive to increase the guest check through suggestive sales techniques and alternatives
  • Prepare guest check, using Micros point of sale system, collect and process payment correctly
  • Maintain assigned table and station cleanliness, tidiness and order
  • Close side work by cleaning area, re-stocking supplies and refilling condiments
  • Prepare back kitchen, stock supplies, including bagels and muffins, make coffee and buff tables
  • Set-up and break down special events and buffets, to include moving furniture as necessary
  • Remove used dishes and maintain table during meal or buffet by replacing utensils as necessary and refolding napkins
  • Serve guests from buffet upon request
  • Transport food from kitchen to buffet table in restaurant, as needed
  • Ensure general housekeeping, including cleaning of fixtures, appliances, counters, dusting, and sweeping
  • Comply with all Pebble Beach Company safety, health and general policies and procedures
