Job Description

The Idea Collective is a dynamic hospitality group based in Dayton, Ohio, known for owning and operating multiple unique and innovative dining concepts including Sueno, Tender Mercy, and Three Birds. These establishments are celebrated for their distinctive experiences and commitment to exceptional service, making them popular destinations for local food enthusiasts and visitors alike. Each venue under The Idea Collective umbrella has its own character and style, ranging from sophisticated dining to vibrant nightlife, offering a variety of atmospheres and culinary delights that cater to diverse tastes. Established with a vision to redefine hospitality in Dayton, The Idea Collective combines passion for food, drink, and exceptional customer service with an innovative approach to creating memorable guest experiences. This collective approach ensures a strong presence in Dayton's dining scene and ongoing opportunities for growth and collaboration among its venues.

One of the standout concepts managed by The Idea Collective is Tender Mercy, Dayton's underground cocktail lounge that also features "Dozo," an Omakase sushi pop-up. Tender Mercy is not just a place to eat and drink; it is a destination where guests come to escape and savor an immersive dining experience. The atmosphere at Tender Mercy reflects relaxed fine dining, emphasizing a balance of sophistication and approachable warmth. The establishment seeks team members who embody personality, passion, and warmth — qualities that are essential in hospitality and crucial for creating an exceptional guest experience.

The server role at Tender Mercy is centered on crafting experiences rather than simply serving food. The hospitality philosophy here is that dining out is a form of escapism and entertainment, where guests seek to add excitement and joy to their lives through culinary adventure. Servers are expected to have deep knowledge of the menu, including the history and preparation of both food and drinks, ranging from expertly crafted cocktails to a carefully curated wine list. The Idea Collective invests in continuous education and professional development, offering routine training sessions and periodic testing to ensure that all staff maintain high standards of service and expertise in menu offerings.

This position is ideal for individuals who find joy in creating joy for others—those who understand that hospitality is the genuine desire to make guests feel welcome and valued. Tender Mercy’s service style blends professionalism with a relaxed and inviting atmosphere, allowing servers to educate and guide guests through the menu while fostering a warm and memorable experience. Compensation for this role ranges from $35-40 per hour after tips, underscoring the value placed on the staff's skill and dedication. Additionally, applicants are informed that their candidacy may also be considered across all locations operated by The Idea Collective, providing a wider spectrum of employment opportunities within an innovative and exciting hospitality group.
