Tacombi Chicago is currently seeking enthusiastic servers to join its dynamic team. As a server at Tacombi, you will play an essential role as the frontline representative of the Tacombi brand, embodying its mission to deliver Mexican hospitality with pride and passion. This role is designed for those who thrive in fast-paced environments and who have a genuine love for hospitality and guest service. Servers at Tacombi are not just order takers; they are the heart of the guest experience, ensuring that every customer feels welcomed, valued, and cared for from the moment they step into the restaurant until their fond farewell.

The server position at Tacombi comes with a set of responsibilities that go beyond traditional serving duties. In this role, you will deliver warm, attentive, and genuine hospitality to create an energized dining environment that captures Tacombi’s cultural hospitality standards. Your day-to-day activities will include greeting guests promptly, presenting menus, taking accurate orders, and ensuring timely delivery of meals. You will anticipate guest needs, offer thoughtful menu recommendations, and resolve any concerns with professionalism and courtesy, escalating issues to management when necessary.

In addition to guest interaction, servers are responsible for upholding Tacombi’s service culture by consistently following established steps of service, maintaining organized and clean workstations, completing side work such as restocking and table setup, and adhering to all food safety protocols and legal regulations related to food and alcohol service. Using the Toast point-of-sale (POS) system efficiently to process payments is also a critical component of the role.

This position requires physical stamina as servers will stand and walk for extended periods and must be comfortable lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs regularly and occasionally up to 50 lbs. The work environment can involve exposure to heat, cold storage, humidity, and common allergens, and servers must maintain adequate vision, hearing, and manual dexterity to perform their duties safely and efficiently.

Job Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during shifts

Job Duties

  • Deliver warm, attentive, and genuine hospitality to every guest
  • Greet guests promptly, present menus, take orders accurately, and ensure meals are delivered in a timely manner
  • Anticipate guest needs throughout their visit and provide thoughtful recommendations based on menu knowledge
  • Ensure that every guest receives the true Tacombi experience from arrival to fond farewell
  • Resolve guest concerns with courtesy, urgency, and sound judgment, escalating to a manager when needed
  • Uphold Tacombi’s service culture and follow all Steps of Service with consistency
  • Maintain clean, organized, and fully prepared workstations before, during, and after service
  • Complete side work tasks such as restocking, table setup, and station organization
  • Ensure the dining room and service areas remain clean, tidy, and guest-ready at all times
  • Accurately process payments using Toast or other POS systems
  • Follow all food safety protocols, alcohol service laws, Department of Health regulations, and Tacombi hospitality standards
  • Represent Tacombi with positivity, warmth, and pride
  • Serve as an ambassador of our mission by sharing knowledge of our brand values, cultural hospitality roots, and menu offerings
  • Maintain professionalism in appearance, communication, and conduct throughout every shift
