Job Description

The role of the Server is a vital front-of-house position in this senior living community. Reporting directly to the Director of Culinary, the Server plays a key role in preparing the dining room for meal service, taking orders from residents, and performing closing duties to ensure a smooth and pleasant dining experience. This hourly position demands a positive attitude, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to interact with residents and guests in a friendly and professional manner. The Server is responsible for accurately communicating food and drink orders to kitchen staff, offering menu suggestions, and promptly addressing any concerns to maintain a high level of resident satisfaction.

The Server supports the organization’s mission by promoting a company culture that values connection and joy for seniors. This includes engaging with residents, ensuring that tables are well attended during meals, and assisting food preparation staff when necessary. The role also involves ongoing education, requiring the Server to participate in training courses and maintain up-to-date certifications through the company’s Learning Management System. Physical demands of the job include frequent standing and walking, lifting and carrying moderate weights, climbing stairs, and performing various movements such as bending and twisting. The Server must possess strong sensory abilities to see, hear, and communicate effectively.

Job Duties

  • Support the mission vision and goals of the organization upholding and promoting company culture and vision
  • take food and drink orders from residents and guests accurately and with a positive attitude
  • write resident or guest food orders on order slips
  • engage with residents in a friendly manner
  • possess knowledge of the menu with the ability to make suggestions
  • ensure tables are enjoying their meals and take action to correct any problems
  • perform end of shift duties in dining and kitchen
  • assist food preparation staff when necessary
  • attend training courses at community and maintain up to date monthly quarterly annual training through designated learning management system LMS
  • perform other duties as assigned and which relate to the success of the community and the care comfort and happiness of residents
