The role of Server at Spare Time Entertainment in Portland, ME, is a crucial position responsible for providing an outstanding food and beverage service experience to guests. This position requires servers to have a thorough knowledge of the menu to make recommendations confidently and to understand the entertainment venue’s features and special events to promote them effectively to guests. Servers must be proactive in attending to guests by patrolling their assigned sections, quickly responding to requests, and resolving any issues that arise to maintain a high level of customer satisfaction. Adherence to strict alcohol service policies, including checking guest identification and monitoring alcohol consumption in accordance with company rules and state laws, is mandatory for this role.

Additionally, servers will assist with food preparation when necessary and must adhere to food safety and quality regulations rigorously. Managing waste control and maintaining cleanliness in food preparation and serving areas is part of the server's responsibilities to uphold health and safety standards. Confident operation of the Point of Sale (POS) system is required to accurately ring orders, process payments, and provide guests with their bills efficiently and courteously.

Servers are responsible for completing all shift paperwork accurately and organizing shift opening and closing duties to ensure smooth operation during each shift. Preparation of tables by cleaning and resetting is required to create a welcoming environment for incoming guests. Maintaining the cleanliness, organization, and restocking of products and service areas are ongoing daily duties. Any inventory shortages must be communicated promptly to supervisors to avoid service interruptions.

Staying current with all necessary certifications, such as SERVSafe or TIPS, and adhering to all company policies is essential for the safety and well-being of both guests and staff. Reporting any company violations observed during shifts to management is required to maintain a legal and ethical workplace.

This role involves working in an environment with potential loud noise levels, lighting effects like lasers and strobes, and interaction with large crowds including children. Physical demands include the ability to stand and walk for extended periods and lift weights up to 50 pounds. The role often entails working long hours, including frequent weekend shifts, making it suitable for individuals with flexible schedules who thrive in a fast-paced hospitality setting.
