Job Description

Palo Alto Hills Golf & Country Club is a prestigious and welcoming establishment located in Palo Alto, California. The club is currently seeking Servers to join its dynamic Food & Beverage team. This position plays a crucial role in delivering outstanding dining service to members and guests, maintaining the highest standards of hospitality and professionalism. Reporting directly to the Dining Room Manager and the Food & Beverage Director, Servers are responsible for setting up side stations, attending to guests promptly, and ensuring a safe and enjoyable dining experience. From distributing menus to handling cash and credit transactions according to club policies, this role requires a friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable individual. The Server position is both part-time and full-time, offering flexible shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays, with a competitive hourly wage of $24.00 plus participation in the House Service Charge Distribution Plan.

Job Requirements

  • Alcohol beverage certification
  • Food safety certification
  • Of legal age to prepare and serve alcoholic beverages
  • Minimum of two years experience in restaurant or hospitality service preferred
  • Basic understanding of beer, wine, and spirits
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to stand for long periods and perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to follow local and state laws and club policies for alcoholic beverage service

Job Duties

  • Setup side stations and perform assigned side prep work
  • Provide immediate attention to all members and guests upon seating
  • Ensure children are in appropriate seats and safe
  • Distribute food and wine menus and answer questions
  • Fill glasses with ice water and suggest menu items
  • Ensure correct account numbers and names are given for billing
  • Efficiently serve food and drinks in a friendly and courteous manner
  • Place orders with kitchen and inform cooks about special instructions
  • Assemble food on tray and procure items from stations
  • Serve meals and place dishes by courses in front of each person
  • Check back to ensure satisfaction and replenish water and butter
  • Remove soiled dishes and clear tables after each course
  • Present dessert menus and serve desserts, coffee, and after-dinner drinks
  • Verify accuracy of prices, taxes, tips, and charges on checks
  • Present the bill and handle cash and credit card charges
  • Keep dining room and bus station areas clean
  • Clear, clean, and reset vacated tables
  • Advise supervisor of any complaints promptly
  • Perform clean-up and closing duties as assigned
  • Attend pre-meal meetings as requested
  • Turn in signed tip declaration form weekly
  • Thank members and guests and invite them to return
  • Follow local and state laws and club policies for alcoholic beverage service
  • Perform other duties as assigned by dining room or beverage manager
