Job Description
This position is for a Server role within the Culinary Department at a facility that prioritizes excellent dining experiences for its residents and guests. The establishment is focused on creating a comfortable, welcoming environment that residents are proud to call home. Serving meals that are both palatable and visually appealing is central to this position, along with delivering exemplary customer service known as Platinum Service®. This concept embodies providing courteous, responsive, and quality service in every interaction with residents and guests, ensuring their dining experience is flawless and timely.
The Server plays an integral role not only in the success of the culinary team but also in fostering a strong community environment. The person in this position is expected to handle multiple tasks such as taking meal orders, serving food and beverages, distributing and collecting menus, and maintaining proper sanitary standards at all times. This is a non-exempt position that requires frequent physical activity including lifting up to 30 to 50 pounds, pushing and pulling food carts and trays, bending, twisting, reaching, standing, and walking throughout the shift.
The role demands a professional who can make independent decisions, communicate effectively with supervisors, residents, and their families, and manage the needs of residents who may be ill, disabled, elderly, or emotionally upset. Experience in food service or hospitality is preferred, although the key requirement is to meet applicable state and federal requirements for food service positions.
In this dynamic and fast-paced environment, the Server is responsible for ensuring that the dining room remains clean and well-stocked before, during, and after meals. This includes setting up meal trays and dining areas with utensils, napkins, and condiments, as well as assisting residents by opening containers or pouring beverages. The Server also supports event catering by preparing and delivering snacks to special community events and parties.
Maintaining sanitary conditions is critical, and adherence to all cleaning schedules and assignments is mandatory. The Server must also assist other dining rooms during community events and perform any additional duties as assigned to ensure a smooth and coordinated food service operation.
This position does not include supervisory responsibilities but does require a strong commitment to teamwork and collaboration within the culinary and hospitality teams. The physical demands and cognitive requirements of the role include the ability to execute tasks independently, express oneself clearly, and maintain a positive demeanor while dealing tactfully and compassionately with diverse individuals.
Overall, the Server position is vital to upholding the quality and reputation of the dining experience, contributing to the health and well-being of residents by offering Platinum Service® with every meal, and supporting a positive and respectful community atmosphere.
