Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • one to three months related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • ability to work specified hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • physical ability including adequate visual acuity and effective communication skills
  • ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and other sounds
  • commitment to Avera's mission, vision, core values, and social principles
  • ability to maintain confidentiality
  • compliance with safety laws and regulations including CMS, The Joint Commission, DHHS, and OSHA
  • ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • willingness to follow departmental sanitation and food safety standards

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • one to three months related experience and/or training
  • ability to perform essential job functions including visual acuity and effective communication
  • knowledge of safe food handling and sanitation standards
  • ability to follow recipes and dietary guidelines
  • competency in proper handwashing and cleaning protocols

Job Duties

  • Clean and store dishes according to set departmental standards
  • complete cleaning processes efficiently and timely
  • utilize chemicals appropriately
  • maintain work area cleanliness including sweeping floors, mopping, sanitizing counters, and garbage disposal
  • correctly serve foods and assemble trays for residents adhering to diet alterations
  • utilize menu extensions or seek clarification when needed
  • complete assigned daily cleaning schedules for work areas and equipment
  • demonstrate required competencies on unit-specific checklists
  • demonstrate proper hand washing techniques
  • understand basic measuring utensils
  • follow production sheets and special function sheets
  • follow safe food handling procedures and HACCP guidelines
  • abide by the schedule and select menus for residents
  • follow dishroom, pot and pan procedures, including chemical use, drying times, and sanitization procedures
