Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- one to three months related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
- ability to work specified hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- physical ability including adequate visual acuity and effective communication skills
- ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and other sounds
- commitment to Avera's mission, vision, core values, and social principles
- ability to maintain confidentiality
- compliance with safety laws and regulations including CMS, The Joint Commission, DHHS, and OSHA
- ability to work effectively in a team environment
- willingness to follow departmental sanitation and food safety standards
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent

- ability to perform essential job functions including visual acuity and effective communication
- knowledge of safe food handling and sanitation standards
- ability to follow recipes and dietary guidelines
- competency in proper handwashing and cleaning protocols
Job Duties
- Clean and store dishes according to set departmental standards
- complete cleaning processes efficiently and timely
- utilize chemicals appropriately
- maintain work area cleanliness including sweeping floors, mopping, sanitizing counters, and garbage disposal
- correctly serve foods and assemble trays for residents adhering to diet alterations
- utilize menu extensions or seek clarification when needed
- complete assigned daily cleaning schedules for work areas and equipment
- demonstrate required competencies on unit-specific checklists
- demonstrate proper hand washing techniques
- understand basic measuring utensils
- follow production sheets and special function sheets
- follow safe food handling procedures and HACCP guidelines
- abide by the schedule and select menus for residents
- follow dishroom, pot and pan procedures, including chemical use, drying times, and sanitization procedures
