Job Description

Our client is a leading IT services provider dedicated to supporting critical U.S. Army operations through advanced technology solutions. Situated in Huntsville, AL, a hub for defense and aerospace sectors, this reputable company specializes in delivering comprehensive IT infrastructure management and support services tailored to meet stringent military standards and operational requirements. Known for its commitment to fostering innovation, security, and reliability, the company plays a vital role in maintaining and enhancing the technological framework that supports national defense initiatives. With a strong presence in the government contracting space, the company offers a dynamic work environment where experts in information technology and military cybersecurity collaborate to achieve mission success.

The Server Lead position on a major U.S. Army contract is designed for a seasoned professional who can provide expert-level support and leadership in managing Windows Server environments from versions 2012 to 2022, alongside sophisticated systems including Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL), Workspace ONE Access, and WSUS. This role demands a proactive approach to hardware and software administration to ensure the highest levels of system availability, security, and compliance with Army Information Management and Technology (IM&T) standards. The Server Lead will function as a key point of contact within the IT infrastructure team, responsible for overseeing server and network infrastructure maintenance on a 24/7 basis, ensuring continuous delivery of critical services.

The responsibilities extend to implementing and maintaining essential services and protocols such as vProxy, DD Boost, NDMP, REST APIs, and S3-compatible object storage, all integrated within VMware vCenter and vSphere environments. A critical aspect of the role involves working with application-aware backup solutions to guarantee data consistency and swift recovery, especially for platforms like SQL Server. Beyond traditional server administration, the Server Lead will engage in high-level data analytics activities including data engineering, mining, exploratory and predictive analyses, and statistical modeling to translate raw data into actionable intelligence through graphical and verbal narratives.

Innovation and automation are key facets of this role, with expectations to build AI tools that streamline processes, including the creation of ML-based recommendation systems and automated lead scoring frameworks. The Server Lead will also contribute to maintaining an accessible web platform for Army and Intelligence Community (IC) members, ensuring seamless information sharing and operational transparency. Producing comprehensive software documentation, user manuals, and providing direct support to branch chiefs and senior analysts are also integral duties. The candidate will act as a liaison coordinating with internal and external IT service providers to continuously enhance system performance and site reliability.

This full-time position requires an active DoD Secret Clearance, underscoring the importance of security and trust. The successful candidate will have a robust combination of education and demonstrated experience, complemented by certifications such as Security Plus and compliance with the Information Assurance Technical Workforce requirements as per DoD 8570.01-M standards.
