This part-time, casual Food and Nutrition team member position is within the department located at 11903 Carlyle Place Navicent Health. It offers a unique opportunity to work evenings and weekends, with premium pay for these shifts and an hourly wage ranging between $18.85 and $28.30. The role is a fundamental part of the food service team, tasked with maintaining high-quality dining experiences for residents by performing various duties including serving, food preparation, sanitation, and banquet services. The successful candidate must uphold Advocate Health's 5-star dining standards and be comfortable engaging with residents to ensure their satisfaction and monitor any changes in their physical or mental health condition. This position requires some physical endurance and the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a high-energy environment. As no previous experience or formal education is required, this role is an excellent entry point into healthcare food services, with potential for professional growth and development within Advocate Health's supportive and resource-rich environment.

Job Requirements

- Must be able to use visual near and distance acuity
- Must have verbal ability to communicate in person and over the phone or radio
- Must be able to assist co-workers in transfers and transport supplies, patients/residents, or equipment using good body mechanics
- Must have functional range of motion of the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spines, upper and lower extremities with grip strength of 60-80 pounds
- Must be able to forward reach, overhead reach, bend, squat, kneel and change positions rapidly
- Must be able to lift 25-60 lbs. and carry 25-50 pounds
- Must be able to tolerate high noise, busy atmospheres and noxious odors
- Must be calm under stressful situations and able to assess and respond to multiple situations simultaneously
- Job may require passing a cardiac recovery test if classified under POPE C

Job Duties
- Perform opening, side and closing work duties
- Accurately input customer orders in computer ensuring proper charges
- Serve tables as residents are seated
- Create a pleasant dining experience for residents and uphold 5 star dining standards at all times
- Inform supervisor of customer problems immediately
- Inform supervisor of noticeable or perceived changes in residents' physical or mental health abilities
- Perform as banquet server participating in room decorating and setups
- May be required to perform as culinary event cook (omelet, carving and cooking stations)
- Pick up and deliver food ensuring proper temperatures are maintained
- Stock standard food items in kitchens
- Wash dishes following proper guidelines and complete cleaning assignments to ensure sanitation guidelines are met
- Label, date and rotate food items and discard food items older than 48 hours
- Maintain proper food temperature records according to Federal guidelines and keep HACCP logs up to date
- Express understanding of therapeutic and mechanically altered diets after training
- Portion food and prepare plates and trays according to residents' therapeutic diet and mechanically alter food according to therapeutic diet needs
- Appropriately alter consistencies of food using industrial food processors
