The position of Server at Harmony plays a critical role in delivering outstanding dining experiences by courteously serving meals to residents and guests. Servers are responsible for all aspects of table service including assisting residents in placing orders, providing beverage service, replenishing condiments, and ensuring proper serving techniques are used. This role requires attention to detail, especially in understanding the unique needs of residents such as mobility challenges or memory impairments. Beyond meal service, Servers contribute to the overall dining experience by helping with tray service and maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the dining area. Servers must be well-versed in basic food preparation processes, food storage protocols, and safety standards. Job Requirements
- Must be in clean designated uniform during working hours and maintain good personal hygiene
- Must be able to read and follow simple instructions
- Must possess ability to perform simple, repetitive tasks
- Must be able to bend, reach, grasp, push and pull objects
- Must be able to stand and walk for sustained periods up to three (3) hours at a time
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs on a regular basis and carry heavy objects for 20 feet
- Must be organized and willing to work well with other team members
- Must be willing to work a flexible schedule that includes evenings, weekends, and holidays
Job Qualifications
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Must be able to learn quickly and apply learned principles
- Ability to work under close supervision
- Knowledge of proper sitting service and food preparation techniques preferred
- Previous experience in a customer service or hospitality role is a plus
- Capable of maintaining good personal hygiene and professional appearance
- Ability to work well with other team members
- Willingness to work flexible schedules including evenings, weekends, and holidays
Job Duties
- Assist residents when placing orders from the menu
- Provide beverage service including water, iced tea, juices, milk, coffee, and tea
- Refill salt, pepper, and sugar bowls prior to and after each meal
- Report any broken equipment or tableware to supervisor
- Maintain knowledge of sit-down service and proper serving techniques
- Understand basic food preparation such as salads and desserts
- Ensure proper food storage and labeling techniques
- Sweep, mop, and vacuum kitchen and dining room
- Attend required in-services and staff meetings
- Complete all other duties assigned
- Be attentive to special needs of residents including mobility deficits and memory impairment
- Assist with tray service
- Follow confidentiality policies regarding resident information
- Interact politely and considerately with residents, guests, co-workers, and supervisors
