The Server role at Eddie Merlot's, which is part of the Eddie Merlot's division under DRG, plays a crucial function in delivering the exceptional guest service that defines the Eddie Merlot's dining experience. Servers are responsible for ensuring guests receive attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly service throughout their visit. This includes answering questions about the menu and beverage options, taking and accurately relaying orders to the kitchen and bar, presenting food and beverages in line with established standards, and processing guest payments with precision. The Server is a vital link between guests and the kitchen and bar teams and must work collaboratively with bartenders, bussers, runners, and other staff to maintain a smooth operation and uphold the highest standards of hospitality.

The position is non-exempt and requires a flexible, part-time schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays. The Server must be able to maintain a professional appearance, communicate clearly and effectively with guests and team members, and demonstrate a strong team orientation. Physical requirements include the ability to stand for extended periods and carry up to 35 pounds regularly. Eddie Merlot's is seeking individuals who are self-motivated, organized, and able to work effectively under pressure while maintaining a positive attitude. The role also involves continuous learning through training modules and an ongoing commitment to maintaining the standards and policies related to liquor service, food handling, sanitation, and safety. Job Requirements

  • Two or more year’s experience as a server, preferably in a fine dining restaurant
  • Meet state age requirement for the position
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Must be able to read and communicate in English clearly and effectively
  • Clean and professional appearance
  • Must have a state license to serve alcohol and understand state/local liquor regulations
  • Must have professional communication and social skills appropriate for guests
  • Must be self motivated and able to work calmly and effectively under pressure
  • Strong team-work orientation, well organized, able to take direction from others
  • Basic math and computer skills required
  • Able to work a flexible, part-time schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays

Job Duties

  • Complete and pass required training modules - both initial and ongoing
  • Know your work schedule for the week, arrive at work on time, and meet standards for uniform and professional appearance
  • Know and understand menu and beverage options, follow established guidelines for sequence and methodology of service and providing outstanding hospitality
  • Communicate with manager and hosts to understand reservations, guest flow, large parties, or special event needs
  • Check assigned station and reservations, make sure tables are configured appropriately and set in accordance with guidelines, and perform other opening duties to prepare for guest arrival
  • Greet guests within specified timeframe of being seated and ensure that guests are comfortable
  • Present menus and begin to "read" the table and establish rapport
  • Take beverage orders, garnish and pick up drinks, and deliver beverages in accordance with procedure
  • Give a menu tour, guide guest through the ordering process, and offer the meat tray presentation
  • Answer menu questions and follow menu merchandising procedures by listening, explaining specials, suggesting items, and up-selling
  • Follow standard procedures for accurately taking and inputting orders in accordance with standard procedures for timing of courses
  • Pick up orders, completing plate presentation if needed
  • Serve orders, ensuring accuracy and addressing any concerns or requests
  • Check back with guests within the designated time frame to ensure satisfaction
  • Perform pre-bussing and table maintenance duties throughout the meal
  • Offer desserts and additional beverages as needed
  • Audit and present check
  • accurately complete payment and tip-reporting
  • As they leave, thank guests for dining and invite them to return
  • Bus, set, and re-set tables as needed
  • Perform side duties, closing duties, and other related duties as assigned by manager(s)
  • Assist with Prime Society service and encourage membership
  • Follow Eddie Merlot's policies, procedures, standards, and performance expectations, as well as applicable laws and regulations related to liquor, food handling, sanitation, and safety at all times
  • Communicate information regarding guest requests or complaints and ideas for improvement to managers
  • May be scheduled to work meetings, banquets, and special events
  • Maintain a good team-work environment by willingly assisting other team members with their station duties and sidework when there is a need and/or when available
