Job Description
Howmet Aerospace, headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, is a prominent global provider of advanced engineered solutions primarily serving the aerospace and transportation industries. With a dedicated focus on jet engine components, aerospace fastening systems, and titanium structural parts, Howmet plays a critical role in supplying mission-critical performance and efficiency solutions for aerospace and defense applications. Additionally, the company manufactures forged wheels designed for commercial transportation, highlighting its diversified portfolio. Howmet Aerospace is at the forefront of innovation, actively contributing to the next generation of more fuel-efficient, quieter aerospace engines and sustainable transportation technologies. Their commitment to excellence and sustainability makes them a valued employer in the aerospace manufacturing sector.
As a server engineer within Howmet Engines Shared Services, you will become an essential part of a close-knit, cross-functional team tasked with supporting Howmet's enterprise IT infrastructure. This role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining robust server platforms across physical, virtual, and cloud-hosted environments. The position requires a proactive approach to monitoring and optimizing hybrid infrastructure systems, including on-premises servers and virtualization platforms, ensuring efficient and reliable performance. You will be responsible for implementing critical security and configuration controls that align with corporate standards and regulatory requirements, maintaining compliance through operational testing and risk management.
In addition to supporting infrastructure lifecycle activities such as deployments, upgrades, migrations, and decommissioning, you will participate in regular maintenance tasks, including operating system and firmware patching. Leveraging automation and scripting tools is a key responsibility to improve operational efficiency and system reliability. Staying current with infrastructure best practices and emerging technologies will position you as a valuable technical resource, supporting architecture, operations, and audit functions.
Documentation and development of system architecture diagrams, operational procedures, test plans, and security standards also fall under your purview, ensuring that infrastructure management processes are well defined and accessible. This role demands strong collaboration with infrastructure and application teams to assist in capacity planning, performance monitoring, and designing high-availability solutions that meet business continuity requirements. It offers an opportunity to work in an innovative, dynamic environment that values technical expertise, continuous learning, and teamwork.
